Wink Folks, I am keenly aware few can run out and toss a little over $1000 for a gift for Gummy & Grumpy - so, right up front, please consider this an opinion to pass along for the curious...
~~~
Yea, I did it for my folks because I could and they are each almost 90 - but quite computer literate.
It came in with clear and concise directions and a free month of 'online schooling'.
I was VERY impressed with the 'art of the deal' and the 'sales chat' (I purposely acted quite elderly and computer-illiterate), and the 'satisfaction/return policy' is really very good.
Computer was delivered exactly when I was advised, so I had a few days to set up a 'computer den and fun palace' for my folks (couch, computer table, chair, t.v....yada yada yada...all spare available stuff), installed some heavy-duty surge protection and, well, a few ago, hooked up the 22" touch-screen/keyboard/mouse.
Runs Linux, setting up protected wireless was REALLY SIMPLE - they have wonderful setup videos for elderly if they are alone and have to have ISP provider come out (otherwise, if one knows their Wireless Network and WNAP2/3 (network password), going online is rapid.
Setting up email (GMAIL default) and the camera are a breeze, also.
In a matter of minutes, I had geriatric whining about who gets computer time first (as if my father doesn't have enough computers of his own, including fancy-dandy new laptop, or he can use some of mine - he is VERY computer savvy).  I really got this more for my mother as she has long battled him for machines and he is very much like the guy from the Flo commercial - "women don't have jobs!"LOL. As brilliant as he has always been, the unspoken truth is the fact she is smarter. A LOT smarter and really fast (and she immediately let it be known it is HER computer and he had to back off (which he did, ol'tail between the legs). This is actually fun watching them have fun with a new toy - something I could finally do and is making me feel great, so far.
At this juncture, this machine gets a real 'thumbs up' from me.
You should've taken a couple of minutes to show them how to use the webcam...
Neither of the above would happen - so far, this has been a great hit and good purchase.
