Commercials that I hate are the ones that are about nothing about the product they sell.

Geico does this a lot! Now Subway is doing the same thing!
Thank God for kids who love Obscure Things.

I remember when one of my "friends", Randy Crawford started this thread. Ahh, what a good thread this one is!
My name is Donathan, pronounced the same way you pronounce Jonathan, except with a D.😀 Hitting on a Lesbian who speaks to you and about you like trash means you're REALLY desperate! 😀

I don't mind that.  They're often more entertaining.  Plus, I usually don't (in fact, almost never) care about the product they're selling, anyway.

I always hate the "bite and smile" move in commercials, where the actor/actress bites into their food and immediately smiles - never mind actually chewing the food.  They're in such bliss that they have to smile.

Lately, Adtards are putting in sharp noises in their commercials to try and get the viewers attention.. Bells, dings, buzzers, etc.Walmart has this. With the good sound from tv these days it sounds like it's right next to you.

The continual recycling, death and resurrection of insurance commercials. Just when you forget about them... My current unfavorite must be going on five years, and is another variation of the usual Adtard "smart woman, stupid husband" go-to for them. It's the Allstate one where they're sitting at the table and she taunts him with her crappy $6 rebate she got from Allstate, waving it in his face. Given that's she's spectacularly unattractive, in real life she would be divorced so fast that she'd have to talk to strangers on the street about her stupid check. Liberty Mutual, of course, latest one the bleached blonde with the smirk and the flowered dress who uses the "blahblahblah" like she just came up with a brilliant comment.

Most of all, anyone involved with "Silk" needs to be fed to the wolves, slowly.

By the way, if you forget to check, "Adtard" comes out as "Antares" at least on my tablet.

Commercials that are twice as loud as the TV program. Breathy whiney hipster chicks, nonsense baby talk lyrics to the sh*t that passes as today's top 40 music. Target commercial with the Dickey Dickey Doo. Broadway show tunes in commercials adapted to the product, over the top Glee type musical numbers. Hip hop rap crap and ghettoization of commercials. Patronizing. Christmas creep. WTF cares about that damned holiday when it's September an 90 degrees outside. Presidents day adds that start a month before and linger a month after the government worker day off fest. Screaming boy babies and toddlers. For whatever reason having these little brats in charge of the clueless hipster millennial parents is just plain grating. Bad loud in your face AWB awful white band music with screeching guitars. And for that matter anything with air guitar. The adtard(s) should be executed for featuring air guitar in any commercial. Those make you feel like sh*t and wanna cry commercials for animal abuse and crippled kids. I wish PBS had commercials so these water works feel bad commercials could be aimed at the folks who watch PBS well off and generally very liberal.
I approve this message.

The constant loud screaming in commercials - like this Lay Z Boy ad pictured.
Loud music, usually rap, techno dub step BS. (Carnival Cruise lines, Cheerios, or Silk Milk)
The crap singing by whiny so called "musicians." - More like whispering. The sh*t U.of Phoenix ad comes to mind, or "Time After Time" creepy commercial from McDonalds.

I hate when millennial d-bags "devastate" the competition via the use of their snarky, biting sarcasm.

Liberty Mutual ads are notorious for this.

No... I picked the wrong insurance COMPANY.

"Oh please stop hurting us, hip young millennial douchebag!!!! Have mercy on us!!! Your sarcasm is just too much to bear!!!!

Yeah, right.

...the ads take aim and lay their claim to the heart and the soul of the spender

The use of the word "cut-rate" by more expensive companies to undermine the competition. Allstate started the trend when they brought Dennis Haysbert on board to plug the insurance company, specifically going after GEICO. Now, Verizon is doing the same thing against Sprint and T-Mobile.

Sorry Verizon, but I'm happy with my "cut-rate" provider.

Here's our number. Call blah blah blahh, blah blah blah blah. Again our number is blah blah blah, blah blah blah blah. That number again is ....
Anyways, you get the picture. Ok, granted I can't remember numbers well especially if told one time at real-time speed. But who can?
Knowing that they are going to air their ad a bazillion times a day on that station, you'd think that interested parties would keep a pen handy for the next time it airs, right?
Therefore they need not repeat the number over and over again, unless they're hell bent on pissin' me off.
Here's an idea. How about putting the number down at the bottom of the screen the entire length of the commercial. It'll save my sanity and give you more air time (bite my tongue ).

I'd have to say, the trend of commercials existing.  It's been years since I've seen a commercial that didn't make me want to kick my television.

The trend of Daddy needing just as much parental guidance as his kids. And Mommy has four kids to guide. Her three kids and her grown husband pisses me off.

A full-text comprehensive response to this question would fill a book!

Blather like Hardee's/Carl's Jr. "Eat like you mean it." Like how else would you eat: like you have anorexia?

New clichés like "Get your ____ on!"

Kids talking like adults except in their puerile high-pitched voices that are as pleasant as nails on a chalkboard. The Chrysler "PacifiKids" one is the first Mopar ad in years that has had me change the station.

Redefining the term "part of speech:" nouns as verbs, adjectives as nouns, etc. Just saw one this morning on a billboard from Big Brothers/Big Sisters: "Be a big." Aw, come on!

(I'm listening to Weird Al Yankovic's "Word Crimes" as I write this.) LOL
LiMu Emu: the NEXT red meat!

I'm so entirely sick of how people seem to get such a dopamine rush when they keep saying the "word" app. Okay, so smartphones and their existence themselves piss me off to no end but it seems almost every commercial has people blurting out the word app constantly like it's such a cool word. App this, app that, app store, etc. My God! Get a life, people! All it is is mind-numbing propaganda to get people to be brainwashed into thinking they can't even survive or breathe without a smartphone of some sort in their lives. It's just a way for you to waste even more money on crap you don't need and literally takes your time away from doing more important things in life.

People getting cars for Christmas or "the holidays." Using small children to show how "beautiful" the holidays can be when there is a new car one shows a child with a new puppy while the parents have their new car and another a little girl going with her parents in their new car, so they plant a tree and she can put an ornament on it. The cars for the holiday commercials are endless.
