I wouldn't mind seeing ads for PBS. Upcoming shows, specials, etc.

Sorry!
Like the others said, just not the same trashy garbage that you see everywhere else, especially those ones that say that you are the one millionth visitor to this site, or the ones that say that you won a free [insert trendy gadget here]. Remember, we have a forum here to bash those kind of ads
And make sure the ads have hyphenated phone numbers, not those stupid trendy periods (sorry, personal quirk)

I lean more towards ads for actual products verus services. Especially gadgets and cool stuff. You know the kind of stuff you flip through catologs to look for. No chimney sweeps or window companies.

I just saw an ad that actually made me look twice.
Maybe we could have some ads from different state's CoC for tourism. The one that I saw was from Texas. It reminded me of years ago when I used to send away for big thick tourist books put out by each states chamber of commerce. I may never get to see the actual state, but I got to learn much from what I read. Mind you this was before I invented the internet. If I saw an ad inviting me to visit Arkansas, I would be curious as to what made it special and may just click on it. I never click on ads as a rule. The pop ups/unders drive me insane and I refuse to acknowledge them. Travel ads (if they are real) would make me think about clicking them. |

Agreed: none of the flashing, shoot-the-monkey-win-a-prize, you're the 1000th visitor today stuff, or annoying sound things, and no pop-ups! Nothing, in short, that makes me think it's just a site that wants to plant a cookie (or worse) in my computer if I click on it.
Other than that, do what you have to do.

I'm definitely for the t-shirts and cool gadgets. As long as neither are ridiculously expensive. I've never seen the point in t-shirts with logos and quips on them selling for $30/ea + shipping.
OH! And as far as the t-shirts, ones for this site would need to feature heavily! ![]() |

After Donating, I'm mildly bummed to hear that ForumAdmin loves good ads. In my book there is generally no good ads and the premise that ads are a needed revenue stream are debatable. Most ads you see are already attached to a medium that you the consumer pay good money for i.e PC or TV, Theaters, etc. I feel Ads ARE AN INTRUSION That I should be able to regulate or do without completely, if I wish. Take and trim the fat out of broadcasting and worry about your content not what avenue do I need to wrench another buck out of my wallet. We should down size advertising across the board, and put the consumer back in control over what they recieve. Remember people, you ALREADY PAY for much you used to get for FREE, why are there still Ads making the MUTE button still the most important button next to the channelchanger. Wake Up America you are being bilked. Freedom to the masses.

May I add my advice on what ads not to have?
Basically any repeating motion ads such as people pointing at you, flashing, or people moving erratically (i.e the Obama wants ads). These ads are annoying, not really relevant to what they're selling, and frankly are tacky. But the worst ads are those who "hijack" your screen by coming out of nowhere and take over your screen. These will actually cause me to leave a website. |
