That's the question I find myself pondering today.

We're a website that hates bad advertising, but loves great advertising.

With the website redesign underway, I'm selling ad space, but I get to decide who can advertise and who can't.

So what kind of ads would you want to see on Commercials I Hate.com?

What would you click on?

Me personally, I wouldn't mind ads for clever funny t-shirts and things like that.
If the shirt in the ad is funny, I might even laugh - and that's what we should be doing at CIH.

No dating sites. no mortgage rates/refinancing ads, no celebrity quizzes.
Basically nothing that makes you dumber just by looking at it.

So what's it to be, my people?

Is it possible to put ads for The Onion on the site? Do they even sell ads? I think those wouldn't bother me to look at.

Given the democratic nature of the site, guess anyone should be granted a chance to be appropriately abused, or benefitted - don't forget what we stand for; open your doors....

Definitely the cool tee-shirts, that's pretty much a no-brainer.

The ads on Icanhascheezburger.com are catchy, a similar collection would probably work well on CIH.

Honestly, though - any products that are "As Seen On TV" would probably get a lot of hits from CIH, too.

Anything kitschy or retro would do well.
Let's try not to be boring, mkay?

Dreaded double post:  Why not offer advertisers a CIH Critique.  We could have a section where advetisers, for a fee, natch,  could submit beta ads that we would then critique.  Kind of like an online focus group.

I love that idea.
We are bluntly honest with our critiques.
We could help shape teh interwebz ads.

We are the perfect focus group.

I second (or third?) the CRITIQUE idea.

Yes, but I'm getting ads from a source that already exists. I can't make one up.

I might click on ads for trendy, novelty items.

I would click on ads for cool hats and/or tees, probably cause I am looking for one now.

Pop culture oriented stuff with a definite comic bent.

I also would click on a book seller website that emphasized current or popular events, non-fiction material.

I'll keep thinking.

I vote for the T-shirts and novelty items.  Nothing animated (those dancing fools) or flashing. (It would be great if we could be a focus group, wouldn't it?)

Whatever it is, it should be as innocuous as possible.

I think the ads should be for goods or services that the members here might actually make use of.

So on behalf of Thor (who I guess is too shy to ask for himself) I'd like to make a recommendation....

Would you say that we are a "dynamic duo" of sorts?

(BTW, I got quite the chuckle out of posting it myself.)

Depends on how you were using the term "dorks" , if ya know what I mean. Because  according one slang interpretation, it means..... well you can guess.

The ad was a banner ad that appeared on another extremely conservative forum I was posting at for awhile where the admins had a twisted sense of humor.

I saw it & struck me as so funny I had to copy it figuring I could put it to good use someday.

Most of the other ads were for books by people like Ann Coulter.

I always preferred the verb "pork".

I was actually talking about a part of the male anatomy.

Think of a word that has 4 letters, starts with a "d" ends with a "k", has a vowel & a consonant in between....

As we once again veer wildly off topic.

As long as there is no garbage I'd be ok.
Some kind of art related ads.
Food ads are fine.
genealogy sites are good too.
pet care??

off the top of my head, these are ads I may not hate.
was feeling nostalgic
