Confused
I've seen a LONGER version of this commercial which makes the U.S. school systems appear even more inept than this one does. The commercial is actually sort of insulting while telling the consumer absolutely nothing other than Dad & Mom must be 'mental midgets'. Why?
  • Dad and Mom are instilling bad habits into their spermmistakes which ensures their progeny will be less than them and destined for failure.
  • Dad and Mom are idiots as they really enjoy the car, but they know NOTHING about it other than it is 'fun to drive'.
  • The school must not keep track and never notices how many times this year alone the brats have jumped ship for exactly the same reason - school systems simply just are not this stupid.
  • Enjoy the car while you can! Mom & Dad's day jobs know how many times 'Uncle Edward' has died and this repeated abuse of bereavement leave has both of their on the line which means Volkswagen will be getting their car back.
  • The only possible good outcome here is the roller coaster suffers a failure where ONLY the seat harnesses for this entire family suddenly open up at the worst possible time, sending them on the 'Bonus Ride to Eternity' , leaving Volkswagen with an almost untarnished vehicle for resale and the school with two less problematic brats.
  • The 'longer' version clearly stated "Even though there is no 'Uncle Edward' if we had one, this would be what he wanted". Just goes to show Volkswagen marketing team is as stupid as the commercial - wonder if their product remains as prone to failure as they have been for many years?

Now there is an excellent idea. Chevy could replace Honda and Toyota with Volkswagen and Land Rover in their stupid ad.

...and fear no backlash because they wouldn't be wrong.

A different version of this commercial is playing INCESSANTLY during hockey playoffs.  It's on every break.  Worlds largest roller coaster my ass.  I've seen bigger kiddie roller coasters at those little carnivals that pop up around town from time to time.

I should say I've a number of friends from our days in Europe, especially in West Germany, that have settled out on the Left Coast and remain die-hard VW fanatics and are always working on them. Some things one cannot change - you can take the man out of Germany, but you cannot take the German out of the man.

Then there are the idiot zealots.
