Really? One of the stupidest commercials I have ever seen plus the stereotyping could be very insulting to the Hispanic community who may actually purchase Tums.

It's just a Mexican restuarant. Not sure what's so stereotypical about it, aside from the very predictable usage of Cielito Lindo.

Um. The taco and mariachi band perhaps. Also insinuating that Mexican food causes heartburn. My favorite mariachi tune is Dos Arbolitos.

I don't really see a problem here.. as far as the stereotype goes anyway.. ALL giant anthropomorphic food commercials are stupid as hell. Anyway, I guarantee you there'll be more of these commercials and other food "ethnicities" will get picked on too. It's just a hop on the Orbit gum bandwagon.. "Here's some giant food, exaggerated to drive home a point".

And Mexican food does give a lot of people heartburn.. I'm one of them. I think it's all the mariachi.
Hmm... a world without children. Future generations will thank us.

There was an old commercial. So old I can't remember it. It was about Italian cuisine causing heartburn. Tums or malox. Italian could be all the squeezebox music.

Where exactly would it be appropriate to see a mariachi band & a giant taco?  A chinese restaurant?  Post Office?  At the beach?  I think you're reaching, young man.  There's enough stuff in this world that is actually offensive, we don't need to go looking for stuff to be offended by..

Must be a Mexican restaurant for whites.  I don't see any of these girls in the commercial.

I actually thought the commercial was kind of funny.

It's gringo grub anyway. Real Mexican food is tough to find in your average town. Even SF had a dearth of authentic Mexican food when I lived there.

Sorry Sarge, I like it too. The smoke or dust coming off when she hits the taco looks so real.
I make great tacos. When we are is a hurry, the little woman likes Taco Johns.

I hate to break up the elitism surrounding Mexican food and its preparation, but come on - it's corn, beans, rice, and meat.

Nothing mythical about it. I hate when people will go to an "Italian" restaurant where obvious non-Italians are working and think they're eating "authentic Italian" - but then when they see one white dude/girl at a Mexican joint they automatically assume the place is fake crap. WTF?

Also, I can make better tacos and burritos at home as a white guy than an "authentic" fast-food-quality (not 5-star restaurant obviously) Mexican place where no-one but Mexicans are working. The difference is in the ingredients and how fresh they are when used.
