Thank God I didn't have to watch the Muppets or the Smurfs or any of that annoying educational/puppet crap from the 70s and 80s. |

I KNEW YOU WERE GOING TO RESPOND TO THIS, DAMMITNOW!!!
Why?
Why did you have to go and show you were the kid in the striped t-shirt that was forced to sit in front of the black-and-white t.v. by his mother because she was convinced we were bad influences?
We went out, had fun, stole our Dad's Playboy Magazines and raided his liquor cabinet while you laughted at Grover...

Well, no Muppets existed when I was a kid, Captain Kangaroo, Miss Francis, and a couple of local shows were my thing.
The Muppets were innovative and hilarious. Jim Henson was a genius and Sesame Street helped develop many children. Do you remember "Fraggle Rock"? Of course, you couldn't just flip the TV on and leave kids alone. That's where parents came into play. The Muppets also were entertaining for adults. We loved the shows that were broadcast in the evenings and in all forms of entertainment. One of my favorite songs is "It's Not Easy Being Green". Oh well enough of me...I really don't give a rat's ass what you all think anyway. |

BITE ME you feathered butt-wipe!
*I* had to drag the chilluns to the top of 'Trash Mountain', in Virginia Beach, for Seasame Street Live, with the Missus. Met everyone, got a boatload of pictures.
*I* had to drag them to Sesame Steet Live at St Winklesburg (Pete) Beach.
I think one of the things that made a difference and kept me from 'going wolfstal', was meeting 'Gordon' (Roscoe Orman). A person the whole family can fall in love with in a split second.
Me?
When I was young, yea - I knew of Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Greenjeans, but I lived faaaaaaaaarrr farrrr away and got stuck with a weird white guy who lived in the forest for too long.
*I* was on a broadcast of 'Ranger Hal' when I was a squirt (he made me feel funny) - right in dowtown Washington D.C. (we were there for a split second).

The Muppets USED TO BE funny. Then the original muppeteers started dying, one by one. Frank Oz doesn't even do it anymore. I think the only original one left is the guy who plays Gonzo. They are garbage now. GAH-BAGE.

Triple J, I thought Frank Oz WAS the original voice of Gonzo... or do you mean one of the original crew started voicing Gonzo after Frank's 'retirement'?

Oh yeah, I constantly forget Dave for some reason.
I just always got a strong Frank vibe from Gonzo. It's very much the kind of character he played. I gotta dig up my Muppet Show DVDs, now. |

Good for you, Hootman! Personally, I kind of left the Muppets behind when it became all about 'Muppet babies'...but the earlier 'Muppet Show', and 'Sesame Street'(before Henson died and they f'd it up with Elmo) were my childhood favorites. Those who don't like the Muppets..are probably just jealous of them...after all, the Muppets pretty much had someone's fist in their backsides all those years...something these 'critics' are obviusly craving, after being deprived for so long. Well, they can stick Elmo in there, too.

The thing I admire about the muppets is that (and this goes for the new puppeteers as much as the original masters) they managed to create such fully fleshed out and real characters that you really DO forget these are blobs of felt and Styrofoam and wire.
My mother insists vehemently that Miss Piggy is the most vile hateful and annoying female on any TV show she's ever scene. She always switches the channel or tries to fast forward when she makes 'special' appearances and whenever I point out to her that she's putting forth all this hate for a puppet, she says: "Well, she's still a bitch!" I mean, there's very few actors out there who can make a convingly hateful character come alive, so to be able to do something like that with a puppet...to me that is amazing and a sign of the talent and magic that goes into producing the muppets. |

Roscoe Orman 's face / facial expressions were the most freaking annoying part of the commercial.

Love the Muppets. So sad to see them hawking SUVs. It's so anti-Jim Henson.

So sick of this stupid commercial, just when I think it was on hiatus it comes up and rears its ugly head.
The muppets became unfunny when they used themselves to advertise stuff. |

One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off

After the first 28 times of hearing Sweetums break through a wall yelling "BOORING!" I have gotten sick and tired of this ad.
