Since the video posted in the first post is private, here's the official version directly from Radio Shack's YouTube channel:

Apparently they cant, interesting that the article also mentions the commercial-

Wow! This reminds me of the poor suckers spending the rent money on lottery tickets confident that they are going to win. Great plan.

There are a few niche items I still use radio shack for. Yea I can order the same thing on Amazon, but sometimes I need to see it in person to make sure it will fit, like a 3.5mm headphone cable that splits to two RCA plugs, that is skinny enough to plug into my phone with the case on it. I could have ordered one from Amazon, but I couldn't have been sure that it was going to fit. But yea, I go there maybe once a year to spend less than $10 usually. For normal cables and adapters without some kind of special need, I'm just going to use Amazon.

They're trying to get into the cell phone and tablet business too it seems but if I'm going to sign up with a new carrier, I'm going directly to that carrier's store, not to a third party store, especially if the price is going to be the same. The employees at the carrier store are going to be able to answer my questions better than someone who just has a brief overview of all the different carriers. And any other expensive electronic gadgets I'm probably going to Best Buy for because of their rewards program and they actually have very competitive prices and will price match pretty much anyone, even online retailers like Amazon.

I'll be sad that one time a year when I need something from a Radio Shack, but for the most part I won't miss them at all. The nostalgia in the commercial was fun though. :)

Agreed..however Radio Shack is useful to me for the convenience of NOT having to go to Walmart.  And my hopes is that they are trying to/will be successful at differentiating themselves enough away from both Walmart and online sales to remain relevant.

I don't hate this commercial in fact I think it's pretty funny however I think Radio shack today is about as useful as tits on a boar. What can I get there I can't just right click at Amazon or walk into a Walmart? How do they still pay their rent??i haven't stepped foot in a radio shack, along with Kmart or Sears since the 80's and have no idea why all 3 aren't out of business yet.

Bummer, the video is private.
Commercials are awesome, except the annoying ones.

That was pretty good.

Besides the facelift thing, I don't think the word "Shack" in their name does the company any good.  Well, neither does "Radio", for that matter.

The best of the lot, imo.  And completely agreed, their stores needed a facelift.  Done with thoughtful candor- ie they dont completely trash themselves like Dominos has been doing for the past year or two
