Oregon now has a law prohibiting smoking (outside) within 10ft of a public doorway. Question: Would you be cited for smoking within 10ft of the entrance to a hookah lounge?

I'll bet with this, there will be smoking lounges of various sorts opening up around. With double entrances to seal in the smoke from the outdoors.

How about, instead of making smokers out to be evil and pestilent creatures, why don't they get after the alcoholics? I mean, sh*t, commercials for beer and liquor are a dime a dozen, all of them glorifying the experience of getting sh*t-housed drunk and hanging out with your buddies.

My smoking has never killed an entire family. An irresponsible drunk can take out a whole bunch of people.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of these inconsiderate smokers. I ALWAYS ask people around me if they mind if I smoke. If they do mind, I won't smoke until later, when I'm not around them. I don't smoke around people who don't want to be exposed to it and I don't smoke around children. I also don't smoke in people's cars/homes, out of respect.

With that said, this vendetta on personal freedom needs to come to a conclusion. If the government bans cigarettes, it will just open up yet another unregulated black market, just like what happened with alcohol during Prohibition. We'll have people running tobacco and growing it without knowing what the hell they're doing, just like moonshine whiskey and rotgut that would make you blind and eat the lining of your stomach away back then.

So basically, they ban cigarettes, they'll open up a black market. The government will make no money off of tobacco, they will infact SPEND money trying to control the black market, they will be putting money in the pocket of criminals and organized crime syndicates, and it won't curb smoking THAT much. People will find other ways to get their nicotine, just as people find other ways to smoke weed or shoot up heroin.

If they're going to infringe on personal freedoms, they might as well do it equally. Tax the living hell out of booze and stop showing the commercials during the Super Bowl and allover TV that glorify drinking and partying. 'Drink Responsibly?' Why don't they show tobacco commercials, then? Just say 'Smoke Responsibly' at the end of it. AKA, don't act like a jackass and be inconsiderate. It's common courtesy. You don't smoke around non-smokers, you don't get behind the wheel of a car while you're intoxicated. You don't smoke in areas that are smoke free, you don't act like a belligerent asshole when you're drunk. It's very simple, or you would think.

But common courtesy seems to be a scarcity in today's 'modern and developed' world.
