He didn't say anything about deleting threads and me, personally, hadn't seen a lot of "old" threads being resurrected.

Truth is, for me, what used to be fun was when topics went way off topic and we talked about other interesting things. 
I remember we used to have up to six different people posting to the same topic in one night as we talked about different stuff.
Then ForumAdmin told us that all topics had to remain on topic.
That killed it.  Now a lot of topics remain stagnent.
 
Also, personally, I find a lot of the top topics right now to be really boring.
What did you eat last?  What are you listening to? etc.

I remember when 6-20 different people were actually posting something. Now it's maybe 2 posting, 3-4 sitting here doing nothing and 80-90 guests lurking about.Sleepy

Right now, it's been almost 6 hours since anyone's made a comment in Commercials You Hate.  That might happen at night sometimes, but not during the day.

I don't think people even read the rules sometimes.  Luckily, there aren't really that many to break, to begin with.
 
I do see a few of those forbidden "violent fantasies" here, though.  I could do without those.  They just seem incommensurate (is that a word?) with the problem.  I may not like Pomplamoose, but I don't wanna gouge their eyes out or anything.  Well, maybe just one of 'em.  LOL

If we went back to the old Hall of Fame for 200+ posts from before the CIH Revolution (like a Classic Forums "sticky" section) it would probably work to avoid unwanted thread necromancy.  All the Classics would be in a sticky thread for the newbies, and might attract visitors to permanently join, resulting in MORE MONEY donated (HINT HINT).  I just do not want to get thrown off here for breaking rules and starting trouble.

I second that - and take it further! For this rule with its $50 name I offer a $50 adjective: noisome (highly obnoxious or objectionable; source http://www.merriam-webster.com - www.merriam-webster.com). It has the noisomeness of micromanagement.
 
Is this discussion group really all that overcrowded with topics allegedly raised from the dead? If so, I haven't noticed.
 
Also, what's the mortal significance to one year? For the purposes of this website, "dead," to me, means pertaining to commercials long off the air, particularly ones that current readers likely have forgotten. Except, that is, for the "Campaigns That You're Glad That Died" forum.
 
I'm not recommending "civil disobedience;" most of the forum rules are reasonable.

Yeah.. that inconsistency has reared its obvious head a few times. I think a better rule is to not resurrect them unless it is a new observation or maybe the ad has been revived and you want to weigh in. Because some of these folk get all annoyed when you make new threads.

Duplicates & triplicates do nothing but shuffle the original thread to another page. For Pete's sake, how much effort is it to look through  the minimum of 3 pages before posting a duplicate.

Duplicates and triplicates also take up space on the forum index pages.  Plus, if you wonder why no one is responding to the topic you started, it may be because everyone's responded to the one that was started last week.
 
Of course, there are also the people who would rather express their feelings or give some extraneous detail in the name of the topic rather than name the actual product.  This one's my pet peeve.  Save your precious f*cking feelings for the body of your post, not for the name of the topic!  This way, when people do a topic search, they might find the topic they want to post about.
 
And spell it correctly, too, dammit!  Angry
