Where I live, fracking is a huge deal.  There's an initiative on the ballot to move setbacks from 500 feet from schools and homes, to 2500 feet.  It's largely a grassroots initiative that doesn't have a lot of money.  The other side is funded by billion dollar oil companies out of state.  There are multiple ads on to vote no, every single commercial break.  They are spending millions to get the voters to vote it down because they'll lose money.  They're making it sound like if it passes, then the state will lose billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs.  Because money over health, every time.  They're getting reverends and school teachers and "scientists" to all be on the ads and talk about how this state will die if it passes.  It's likely that none of the people in the ads actually live here and that they're all being paid by some oil conglomerate in Texas.  The other side doesn't have the money for the ads, so there are literally no ads.

I can't wait for it to be over.  So damned tired of these commercials.  I didn't know about any of this when moving here.  I might not have if I had.  I guess every area has it's good and bad things, though.

Ominous black and white shots of industrial smoke stacks spewing smoke or steam into the air in slow motion that is,as we're led to believe, going to make us all choke to death or poison everything because the candidate we're not supposed to vote for gets money from them or something.

Below the head slow motion stock footage of men in suits carrying briefcases walking down stairs out of an important looking building that are obviously some sort of evil corporate or greedy businessmen or bankers or wall street traders taking bribes or stealing your tax money that the candidate we're supposed to vote for will Chuck Norris roundhouse kick if we elect them

Young students in a classroom setting smiling big while raising their hands in a school that the candidate we're supposed to vote for supported (all ethnically and gender diverse of course)

JNoble, Clap That was really funny and quite accurate. I was envisioning said commercial while reading your post and it was spot on! Sad that they have become so predictable. Sadder still that apparently these type of ads work. People who vote based on tv ads just shouldn't be allowed to vote.

Liberal group accuses Scott Walker of misusing state planes

MADISON -- Gov. Scott Walker billed taxpayers more than $818,000 to rehab his political image by flying around Wisconsin on state-owned airplanes, a liberal group alleged Monday.

A database compiled by One Wisconsin Now indicates Walker took 869 flights and logged more than 114,000 miles over a 32-month period. The flights include several short trips, including one from Kenosha to Milwaukee.

On Feb. 6, 2016, a plane flew from Madison to Milwaukee to pick Walker up after he tweeted about getting a haircut.

Walker flew to Wausau for an National Rifle Association convention, where his calendars indicate he gave a speech and signed a bill legalizing the concealed carry of switchblades. He then flew to Madison.

869 flights in 32 months is averaging about 1 flight per day which is extremely excessive although if true would of course indicate a workaholic governor. I checked and the Wisconsin National Guard has no fixed wing passenger aircraft. The Air National Guard could fly him in fighter jets and save him lots of time. LOL. Or your numerous UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters. While serving in my final unit I was quite involved in flying the governors. Between the 2 governors while I was involved they would average about 30 to 40 flights per year! One of my many duties was flight operations NCO in Detachment 47 Operational Support Airlift (Det 47 OSA). We had a C-12R (Beechcraft Super King Air 200) 2 pilots and up to 8 passengers. We had an annual state legislators day when the National Guard displayed equipment and answered questions concerning what we did. I was tasked to do this for our C-12 in 2001. A large angry black woman representative approached me and asked if this was the airplane the governor flew in? I replied that he could fly in any of our aircraft he chose to but he usually chose this one. She then demanded to know how much it cost the state? I replied: "Mam, National Guard aircraft are funded 100% by the federal Department of Defense and cost the state nothing". She huffed and stomped off. If military aircraft are used by the governor for campaigning it will be paid the standard reimbursement rate by the governor's campaign funds. The C-12R is about $1,400 per hour. Wisconsin has a very different program. State owned aircraft operated by a contractor "Wisconsin Air Services". They schedule, crew, and maintain the state owned aircraft (A C-12 costs about $2,000,000.) They charge the state who knows how much as a minimum and $7.58 per nautical mile flown. A C-12 cruises at 220 knots which is about 253 mph. Divided by $7.58= about $1,800 per hour. You are getting screwed. Especially if the purchase/contractor scam as opposed to just acquiring a National Guard C-12 is to get around the campaigning and other unauthorized use you are getting royally screwed.

That was hilarious. Thanks for posting it, although I don't see why the fact that it's both funny and featured Alex Baldwin is in any way ironic.

Baldwin has always been an excellent comedic actor and most if not all of his comedic work is quite funny.

Because in recent years he's been so outspoken about Republicans and Pres Trump and so seething with personal rage about that side of the spectrum that it takes a lot of people (like me for example) out of it because you know he's not trying to be funny, he's being personal. There was a reason why he had a lead role in 2004's Team America World Police and not in a flattering way LOL

But yes, when he wants to he has and can be really funny in those types of silly sketches like the one I posted

Of course on the other end of the spectrum, a lot of people (like me for example) LOVE the fact that he ridicules Trump and the Republicans using the classic, age old and time honored technique of sarcasm and humor to make a point that he and others feel needs to be made.

I find it endlessly amusing how Trump supporters call the left "snowflakes" who suffer from "TDS", but then get offended themselves because we rough Trump up a little. Especially after the nastiness he spews constantly AND... more to the point, the eight years of constant ridicule and hatred of Obama and three decades of constant ridicule and hatred of Hillary from the right.

But that was OK, I guess.

AFAIC, Baldwin is at his comedic best when he's exposing Trump and the Republicans for exactly what they are.

I ignore political ads even more than regular ads. We vote by mail. I had done my research and made my choices (marked in the voter pamphlet) when I received my ballot October 19th. I completed it  and dropped it in the box at the post office the next day. I can now enjoy a couple weeks of their time and money being spent when there is now zero chance of my vote being changed.

We are mail-in as well in WA...my ballots will be completed this coming week, and sent back to the auditor. No electronic balloting, or waiting in line at schools and government offices...
I've seen commercial breaks this week with 3-4 different political ads for different Democratic/Republican candidates & initiatives (yes on XXXX, no on XXXX). Just drives me nuts!

Is 'Future45' a PAC related to Trump? I've seen these ads nonstop the past few days on the networks. I'm sick of them all and I wish all of them - Democrat or Republican, would go away! I'll vote based off my personal opinions on the world, thank you very much!

Do they sell fear, or what? Made sure to have a female narrator. Sheldon Adelson and his wife spent $10 million on that one.

For me, where I live, this Democrap named Anthony Brindisi is spending so much money on attacking Tenney based on lies and fake news that they get from the New York Slimes. Worse, is that the guy is just a pawn for Pelosi. I dont understand why the Dimms are trying so hard to try and get votes. Their lies are exposed.

What I hate about these ads is the slander and the lies that these PACs spew out.

I've seen this attack ad on Sen. Maria Cantwell over and over, paid for by her Republican opponent Susan Hutchison. Ex-KIRO news anchor, now head of the WA state GOP. Probably aired 3 to 1 over Maria's ads, which don't slam Susan (they talk about what she's done positively for the state - and her bipartisan support on things like wildfire prevention). I live in Yakima County, who hasn't voted for a Democratic President since LBJ's landslide in 1964, and a county where Trump won by 13% in 2016.

And here's a couple of Christine Brown's ads for good measure. Democratic candidate for my district (WA-04), and used to work for KNDU-TV in the Tri-Cities for over 20 years as the weeknight anchor. Now running against incumbent representative Dan Newhouse (Republican). I can't find his newest ads, but they too only discuss his positives and they don't slam Brown's politics at all.

Can't wait for these to be over. I sent my completed ballot back last week!

Just one more day of ads, and then a few days of bitching-moaning-cry fests over the results. Yay!

AND THEN the Christmas ads will start...
