Here's some "lame".  Bay Area housing prices.

The asking price for this 971 square foot Palo Alto house was $948,000, but it sold for $1,350,000.

Oy vey.

The move went just fine.  Max and I are getting settled in.  We're tired, but hanging in there.  Tomorrow, we go to Illinois for the wedding.  We'll be there for a week.

WinkGlad your trip was short and safe, CW. I only mentioned the 'Canadian Route' because a trucker friend had told us about it; I rarely even think of it, but he swears it cuts hours off such a trip and brings one right into Windsor/Detroit.

So, the week after a major move, you have to go away again??  Then, you come back and set up a new house?

I'd tell the happy couple they're simply going to have to wait till next year to get married.

Confusedwell...I dunno, Thor. Ya go and make a major move like that ~aaand~ commit to going to see the younguns get all married and start a new life together...well, *I* think THEY should come help ya unpack and settle in before the 'big day', doncha know.
If ya ever fed one of them, well, it's only fair.

Maybe that could be the kids' honeymoon getaway, Pa.  Come to Michigan and help the folks unpack.  For their efforts, they get pizza.  If they need to tenderly express their marital union, they can do so on the mattresses stacked up in the garage.

That sounds pretty 'doable', I would think - except I think they should 'go dutch' on the pizza, and, well - it might be nice to let them rent one o'those hotel rooms that has a 'vibrating bed', doncha know. Ya know, if'n it was *my* family, I'd probably even spring for a handful of quarters.
And a few condoms to 'catch the spit'.

99 degrees here earlier today.  I broke my own rule (no A/C before the first day of summer) and turned it on at around 1PM today.

It's 6:30 and still 97 degrees.  78 inside.

I hate air-conditioning.  I hate having all the windows and doors closed.

Do you ever watch the dew point on the weather channel? I never go by the humidity %, the dew point tells me how humid it is.

Humidity?  What's that?

Seriously, we're at about 30% humidity right now.  But it's only about 90 degrees today.  The hotter it gets here, the lower the humidity.  I've seen it at 12%.  So, dew point is of little relevance in the summer here, as well.

On the other hand, Arizona is about 100 degrees today.  That's typical, but right now, my friends' father (who has Alzheimer's) is missing.  He left the house before his wife got up at around 7am, and he's been missing since.  They have the police, police dogs, and helicopters searching for him.  But besides being missing, he had no water with him.  That's a problem when the temps are hot and dry.

I hope they find him OK.

Cry'Humidity' is one thing *I* watch.
No biggie, if the temps are cool.
Hot and Humid is damned near deadly for me, starting about 10 years ago - cannot handle it,any way, shape, or form.

Thanks, Hoot.  I know him pretty well...since before he got Alzheimer's.  Nice guy.  He was the engineer in charge of lighting for the World Trade Center back when it was being built.

They haven't found him yet, and it's starting to get dark there.  Luckily, the temps will be in the 70s there overnight.

It made the news.

Maybe a big coincidence here.  I know a guy in Memphis, whose father was the head electrician at the WTC.  On 9/11 I was in Memphis and he told us about it, and that his dad just sat and cried while they came down.  He considered them his life achievement.

I'll bet Fred knows the guy, Hoot.  Of course, at this point, I couldn't even ask him.  He doesn't even recognize his son-in-law (my friend Jim) anymore.  Last time Jim and his wife and kids were down there, he thought Jim was an intruder.

But yeah...his family sees his involvement in the WTC as a major life achievement.  His daughter was upset not just about the people who died, but about the building itself, too.  When the building was going up, he had an entire floor to do his work.  I think it was the 63rd floor.

No word yet on his situation.  No update of the news story.  This means he was out somewhere the entire night.  I hope he found shelter in a church or even someone's backyard or something---rather than somewhere in the desert.  One good thing is that he's otherwise healthy.  The only medication he takes is his Alzheimer's medication.
