Well, the grate wins and we all lose.
I think they call it, "(slightly un)natural population control".
Ducks are stupid.
The #1 MOST common name they give either a boy or girl duckling is "LUNCH".
Prime Example:
Ya know...when I lived in Tampa, we had a large pond in our front yard. Very nice and relaxing.
Plenty of wildlife.
Mallards and Geese were always around; always breeding - and if NOT controlled, they're a problem. Mallards were pretty and stupid; Geese were mean and stupid. Thank God for Turtles and Snakes (or, well, heck...I won't say this twice - (with all due respects to our beloved CW) CATS), or we would have had a 'population control' problem.
Anyway, right after 'mating season', when you'd see a bunch of Duckings following Mama across the pond on any given morning, you could count on seeing one or two less, the next.
It may have hurt, 'day 1'; you'd eventually come to understand that yes indeed - they ARE cute - even photo-worthy.
Yet, they're tasty!
I'm not a 'Vega'.
