I've said this on 2-3 threads here, but my problem is with the other side of the coin, because you can't hear about "healthy" without hearing about "sick." And I'm sooo tired of those huge BLOCKS of medical ads that have invaded TV. And you don't have to be phobic, oversensitive, easily depressed or (at the other extreme) callous about it to HATE hearing those things. All you have to do is not have the parade of health problems they're about! It isn't a problem when I'm in charge of the remote, because I torpedo anything I don't like in seconds (as I've said elsewhere, I go into a real war movie mode), but I've always lived around people who practically never use the mute button (except when making or getting phone calls - thereby replacing the noise on TV with their noise). Certainly not on irritating ads or entire breaks. The most important part of the remote control, and they don't use it!

Maybe I'm just a complainer about it no matter what, but like a lot of you, I can't stand a lot of the medical ads that try to be light instead of grim (there's a real rock and a hard place). My roommate watches GSN religiously, and one person on those host segments is Debra Wilson, who's not only very entertaining but someone I've always had a real crush on. So what do I see one second afterwards - that woman on the airport P. A. system saying "All right - how many of you have constipation?!"
Thank for the nice little juxtaposition, GSN.

Well...reading little things sometimes makes one think of LOOKING for 'healthier options';

I'm not a fan or a hater of the Sham-Wow guy, but the Slap-Chop ad always gets me laughing. He's obviously making a joke out of the fact that if you put in a one liner about it being healthy, people will flock to it.

I mean, "We're going to make America skinny again, one chop at a time!" How is a food chopper going to make people quit being unhealthy fat asses?

It just goes to show you, we have not a clue how to eat healthy in this country....and the advertisers and big companies will profit from it.  I die a little every time some moron tells me they are eating healthier and then whips out a Lean Cuisine, or a bottle of Crystal Light.

We know so much about not getting fat that we are the fattest country in the developed world....meanwhile, in France...skinny people eating triple-cream cheese! (Hint: don't eat so damn much and get off your butt!)

Ooooohhhhhh, the iiiiirony! Pinch

Oh, hi by the way...

My mom's a huge fan of Gillian McKeith from BBC/BBCA's You Are What You Eat.  One of her recipes is a sweet-potato pizza crust.  We had to make a few modifications (as originally written it came out a bit too dry for our tastes), but it's not bad as a base.

No irony here - them 'Frogs' are skinny because they have long been so full of parasites that they have become parasitic by nature - and NOBODY is letting them 'just eat cake', anymore.

I didn't suffer for not having these extra things specified, so why do they think it's necessary for the store to mark out areas for parents to tell where there they can avoid the least bit of exposure from DEADLY candy and EYE PARALYZING tabloids? THINK for once! You're a parent not an escort service.

No...that might require some actual brain cells...

The fact is, if
you spend time in the sun, you’re almost certain to die!

And if you never see the sun you are certain to die anyway. "Almost" certain to die would be a remarkable improvement over reality! Ask another "expert" and they will tell you that if you live in a sun deprived region like I do (Western Oregon) you should take a vitamin D suppliment to prevent cancer!

Speaking of pizza, my s/o told me that pizza is a vegetable in the US or something along the lines of that because of the tomato paste, I don't really know how that works .

I do not know how most of my friends could just eat a boxed meal for breakfast, lunch, and dinner ALL THE TIME. Also they believe that just because the words "Healthy" or "Natural" are on the box that it does them justice. I just couldn't do it, I don't know if it's just me, but it just tastes like glorified salt. Most of the meals (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)I eat are homemade by me. My friends say "oh but that's too much work" when at the very least it takes 30 min out of your day, plus there are leftovers (I guess the way I was raised comes into play too, cooking away just feels like a natural routine).

I know some of them haven't got the time (and I would not advise to be like me if you know that is not really your thing), but sheesh at least try and make a meal once or twice a week.

I must admit...I guess it also doesn't help that I'm picky in how my food is prepared which is why I usually choose to cook whatever I want myself.

The one's that really annoy me are those who use substitutes to make a sweet more healthy, let's say cake. It's CAKE! It's suppose to have eggs, butter, and sugar! Just don't be a pig! Taste your food, not breathe it.

I agree. They've had "Natural" Sierra Mist for a while, and I despise it. It tastes NOTHING like Mist. It tastes like sh*t mixed with water. Tell me what the problem was with Mist again?

No, pizza's not considered a vegetable, but the paste is (nevermind that tomatoes are fruits).  I think there needs to be a certain amount of paste (not sauce) on the pizza.

But this is what you get when you put parental responsibility upon the government.

When you think about it, a pizza with everything on it is a perfect balanced meal (meat, veggies, dairy, etc.)  Oh yeah, and if you want seafood included, don't forget the anchovies....
