Commercials with confusing messages really irritate me. Today's irritant: State Farm's "I'm never" commercial. Opening shot: single guy saying, "I'm never getting married." Next shot: he's getting married. From there it proceeds as follows:
"We're never having kids!" followed by her in a delivery room.
"We are never moving to the suburbs!" followed by them moving to the suburbs.
"We are never buying a minivan!" followed by him washing a minivan.
"We are never having another kid!" followed by her announcement that she is pregnant.
Then the payoff--he's on the couch, his wife and two girls cuddled around him, and he says, "I'm never letting go."
So we all feel good about the happy family, and want to be sure they are insured for their financial safety. Except we aren't! We have this nagging feeling in back of our minds: what is the next shot going to be? If we follow the pattern they so carefully laid out, the next shot would be him packing his bags and leaving the family!

How do the people who shoot these commercials (or pay for them!) not see that?

The insurance companies suck donkey dicks, and they expect all of their loyal followers to follow suit.

I noticed that too that he most likely will leave his family. Visually and audibly, however, it is implied he really won't leave them by the tender and loving look in his eyes and the love in his voice when he says this.
My name is Donathan, pronounced the same way you pronounce Jonathan, except with a D. :D $608 for her brother's scooter. Fair is fair my ass. Being tough on Public Access TV is priceless.

Nice way she has of telling him she's pregnant again.
And the prophet said:
"And lo, the beast looked upon the face of beauty. And it stayed its hand from killing. And from that day it was as one dead".

I'd like to see an alternative set of "nevers":

I'll never become an alcoholic.
I'll never beat my wife.
I'll never solicit a 12 year-old.
I'll never rob a 7-11.

At the end of the commercial, this is what we see:
