Every new ad seems to have the pitchperson saying "boom". It's right up there with the crunching noise, "bucks" and "veggies" in annoyance for me. The only thing worse is that "Ba Bam!" spot. Good thing my TV is so heavy or I'd throw it out the window.

Yeah, I agree. Haven't we run that stupid "boom" thing into the ground by now?

Heh heh, I do that to the wife once in a while. Infuriates her.

I believe "boom" in the sense the commercials are trying to use it originated in the rap/hip-hop subculture, where it had already been well worn into the ground a LONG time ago!

To say that it's tired and dated now is one hell of an understatement!

Oh, gosh, yes. When that woman says "Ba-BAM!" I (a normally non-violent sort) want to slap her upside the head.

"Ba-BAM this, you fool!"

This echoes my sentiments on "boom" "booyah" "bam" "mind blown" and other such excrement laden words or expressions:

If I'm not mistaken, that piece was from "Jammin' in New York" my ALL TIME FAVORITE George Carlin HBO special. I saw him 2 nights later.

I believe you're right - it was either that one or "Doin' it Again," but I think it was the former.  Both were in the early 90's if I recall, and both were outstanding LOL

I have the 14 CD collection of all his HBO shows - called "All My Stuff" - outstanding, It never gets old. I've also seen him live 7 times and have all of his books. Sigh... man do I miss him.
