The one beef I have with this commercial and with all other commercials like it lately....what is up with having to show us something....on a tablet? Really? What does the tablet accomplish? I think these advertisers are sending subliminal message saying "Get tablets! Tablets are awesome! You need a tablet or you're nothing!" Seriously.....ENOUGH already! I'm sick of this high tech world having to consume every f**king aspect of your life.

In certain businesses and occupations, a tablet device can be quite helpful. Last year, we were having our deck replaced, and the contractor's rep who came to take measurements had a tablet with photos of all the deck jobs the company had completed that season. We had a few questions about our design, and rather than telling us what something would look like, he was able to show us. Pretty cool.

That said, I agree the whole tablet craze is getting ridiculous. I manage an IT division at work, and every time I turn around lately, someone's asking for a tablet. These same people have been getting their work done just fine using a desktop or laptop PCs for years, but suddenly everyone absolutely must have a tablet!!!

As far as tablets at home, with several people I've talked to, the biggest user of their tablet is a kid anywhere from 5 to 10 years old.

And heaven only knows why, but our schools are pushing this tablet trend to the hilt. I guess it's  because the old desktop computer labs, and later, giving all the students laptops, did so much to raise SAT scores. Confused

There are times tablets are good. But as you said, the craze is getting ridiculous. I'm a CompTia A+ Professional and so I'm huge in IT, at least I was but I'm slowing getting out of it simply because computers don't make me happy like they once did. I'm more now into the retro computer equipment and software that worked for me for many many years. I really have no interest learning all the newest stuff out there or that monstrocity known as Windows 8, I use Windows 98 on a daily basis and I'm plenty happy with it as my secondary OS. As for them being in schools....I think they're taking them just a tad too far. What happened to writing? Is that even a requirement anymore? It's like pencils and paper are now a thing of the past...
