On Youtube, for the Text Love calculator commercial,  someone posted something like, "As a test to see what the love calculator would say, I put the names doodoo and butt, and it said 100 percent compatible! What the fuc?  Can you say scam?!" LOL.  It's always a good thing to test what could be potential scams.
I heard the Narrator lady say, "If you're 0-80, call this number for good Life Insurance. First off, I see a 4 week old meandering up to the phone to call this garbage, I will fucing slap it! LOL.:D

(This really feels more like an 'off topic' thread; it isn't commercial-specific)

I think I brought this matter up in a number of product-specific commercials. Happens all the time - the 'name of the game generally is, "How to Separate Fools from Their Money".

No matter where one resides, it is always wisest to remember "Buyer Beware" and other little sayings such as "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is". No matter how cheap or new the product is, more than likely, you will NOT be within the 'First 100 Suckers' - so, look into what someone is selling You!

The wise individual will research sites like the Better Business Bureau (which covers Canada ~and even~ the U.S. - http://www.bbb.org/), or Rip-off Report (http://www.ripoffreport.com/). Other great choices are Consumer Reports (http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/index.htm), or, for U.S. Citizens, your state consumer protection websites.

To put it bluntly (and I'm not a cheap bastard), for me - if it costs anywhere near $100, I'm researching it.

Speaking of scams in commercials. All the TV lawyer commercials with class action lawsuits plus saving you from the IRS and getting your Social Security Disability Claim approved. I saw a new one today bad mouthing Binder and Binder (Social Security Disability) as crooks. At first I thought it was a public service anouncment but it turned out to be a competeing lawyer named Eric Conn. I don't think I would trust a TV lawyer named Conn. It's to obvious.

WinkThe legal industry is a cut-throat one; if not associated with a large firm, they are all out in the pool; for them, it's a 'feeding frenzy' and you are the target.
Don't believe lone-wolf lawyers will not gang together behind a 'false front' and 'easy-to-acquire-800-number' and dole out bad representation best fitting their needs to the 'low-hanging fruit' they can snatch - they will do that in a heartbeat.
We are extremely cautious here; we employ firms that we've investigated - no matter how urgent the requirement.
One should take special care and always remember the lawyers are feeding their own faces, first.
Again, in a 'hit-and-run' accident where the lawyer is the victim, there are never skid marks.

Peace by persuasion has a pleasant sound, but I think we should not be able to work it. We should have to tame the human race first, and history seems to show that that cannot be done.

Yes!  I was thinking those myself; I'd really love a public information campaign telling people that you don't need to sign up to a scam service to get a free credit report; by law everyone is entitled to one (once a year I believe?)  But the government isn't going to do anything that might benefit the plebes and hurt the companies now would they?

If a commercial says you can get rare silver or gold coins for only 20.00, it's a scam.  Rare coins are much more expensive than that.  The real price should be more like 200.00 if it's a real rare coin.Disapprove

Rare coins wouldn't be advertised on TV if they were rare.

How 'bout "Hi, I'm Jenny from Texas and I lost 120 pounds using Hydroxycut". Or whatever brand of miracle weight loss pills in a bottle.Ermm

^Hydroxycut is actually a pretty good product, but YES they do oversell it's abilities. Then again, if someone is seriously 120 lbs. overweight, employed a proper diet, regular quality exercise AND hydroxycut, they definitely could lose that weight quite fast; but let's be honest, they wouldn't look like the models in the commercials. Instead they'd still look fat because of the loose skin. Honestly, when you're THAT overweight, it's better to loose weight slowly The mere fact that you'd adding activity alone will have you dropping 2-3 pounds a week for a month or so. I'd only use Hydroxycut when my body was already healthy, fit, and I just needed to lose that last 5-15 lbs.

Good product, crappy advertising technique. But at least the models they use have somewhat 'normal' bodies, as opposed to older advertising where you saw a fat guy transform into a bodybuilder. Even so, it's somewhat odd that in a commercial for a fat-loss supplement, not a single model has respectable abs.
