This amalgam of Cinderella lyrics and the proper use of car seats is no Prince Charming.  Although it's not as preachy and PC as most of the ads that the Ad Council has their hand in, it is just plain dumb and an instant reflex dive for the mute button...

If you've ever seen the Disney version of Cinderella, these are the magic words that the Fairy God Mother sings when she turns the pumpkin into the carriage, etc.

However, I've never seen the commercial and I'm not really sure what the song might have to do with car seats... Confused

Kinda doubt Pa's seen that.

I actually thought it was 70's porn music (chicka-boom-wah) or a David Bowie song (the bibbidi-bobbidi part).

Thats what makes it so annoying.  There is voice-over mentioning that your child needs to use a car seat until he/she reaches a certain height interspersed with the Fairy Godmother speaking from the film and Cinderella saying "It's a dream... a wonderful dream".

I can't believe you guys haven't heard it.  Consider yourselves lucky.  It plays all the time here (Baltimore).

I found the radio version...

http://www.adcouncil.org/video.asp?cid=41&campaign=Booster Seat Education&url=http://adcouncil.wmod.llnwd.net/a540/o1/adcouncil/radio/booster_seats/bse_bibbidi_30.wma&title=Bibbidi

I apologize for the long link.  You have to copy and paste all of the text in the link to hear it.  Once will probably be enough.  I tried formatting it but it doesn't work...

My mom made us sit in the back seat away from the airbag until we were 12. I think that's all that needs to be done. The government can f**k off if they think my kid is sitting in a booster until they are practically adult sized, that's just overkill. None of us had to do that and guess what, we all survived.

But don't you know, we now live in a touchy-feely, everything under the sun is dangerous type of world now. These are the same type of parents whose kids got sick because they weren't smart enough to know that you shouldn't eat Play-Doh...you know, the parents who complain over every little thing.

When I was dating my ex, we went out once and his daughter was with us. She was eight years old at the time...and in a car seat! I was dumbfounded but kept my mouth shut. My parents had car seats for us when we were babies but got rid of them once we learned to walk and put us in the back seat (my brother almost always sat up front). We didn't have airbags in our cars but if we did I never knew because my dad was a safe driver.

I'm sorry but things like this just annoy me.

In Massachusetts, the law requires you to keep the kid in a booster until they're at least 8 years old, or 4'9."

I have an inexplicable love for PSA's, but this one has been WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY overplayed. My favorite radio station's online stream used to play all PSA's, and this one, along with several others, was played just about every break. HAAAAAAAAAATE.
This is your brain on commercials.
