I've been a devout Athenos brand eater since I started eating hummus. I tried a bunch of other brands, including Sabra, and never liked them.

Cut to last week when I started to crave some hummus. Walmart only had Sabra brand, one of which was supremely spicy flavor. I figured I could at least eat around the spicy dollup in the middle, maybe Sabra wasn't as bad as I remember.

This sh*t is amazing. I ended up mixing the dollup in with the entire tub and have been eating it with Doritos ever since. It's got the right amount of spicy with the right amount of flavor. My only complaint is it has twice the fat of any other hummus I've ever eaten.
It's ok, I'm in marketing!

I love hummus.  I like the plain stuff.  I've had garlic hummus and it's good, but I still prefer the plain stuff.  It's low-cal and lo-fat (usually).  But the bread you use to dip it with is not.  Bread never is---not pita bread, not tortilla bread, not any other kind of bread.  So, I haven't bought any lately.

I'm guessing this stuff is similar in taste & texture to frijoles (bean dip)?

Never tried it, but I might.

Kinda surprising, given your stance on both Arabs & multiculturalism.

You do know that you're supporting both everytime you buy the stuff, right? Wink

I used to love falafels---the New York City kind.  I didn't see any in California until the 90s, and it was this huge burrito-sized thing packed with all sorts of ingredients.  I didn't particularly like it.  The kind I like have a clump of chick peas and tahini sauce (hummus) inside pita bread, and that's it.

Otherwise, Jimbo, you're assumption is, of course, ridiculous.

Smoother.  I can't really describe the flavor.  Almost nutty?  It's made from sesame seeds but I wouldn't say it's "seedy".  I dunno.  Maybe Heza's better at describing flavors.

Now now chil'un, are you going to play nice, or is Sister Cohzaku going to have to bring out the razor-edged steel ruler? :P

I use the Ogran brand of hummus. It's a just-add-water mixture, but I like it because you can always modify it to your preferences at the moment.

As for bread, when I don't want the extra calories, I still can find other things to put hummus on. It's good with some garlic salt and a pinch of cinnamon on top of a slab of salmon. Good on brown rice too.

Then again, when I'm in the mood for it, I can easily eat it all by itself :D

Whole wheat bread is good for you.

I bet it would be good on a nice dark bread like pumpernickel or a nice, coarse multi-grain bread.

Or possibly that Wasa crisp bread....

Screw the calories!!!!! Wink

Nope.  Not right now.  Trying to shed some pounds (bikini weather's coming up soon, y'know, and I wanna look sexy).  LOL

No, really.  I've lost 18 lbs since December, and I just dipped into the 160s for the first time in probably 25 years.  So, my new goal is now 165.  The day I dip below that, is the day I pig out on all the crap I want.

A little bit of whole grain bread isn't gonna destroy your diet.

Especially if you get a lot of exercise.

If you wanna stay thin..... RUN.

Learn to love it & do it 3 or 4 times a week.

Burn them calories right off.

If you don't like running, ride a bike or find a nice park near your house go for a daily 40 minute minimum walk.

Gets you out of the house, too.

Might even meet a lady-type person.
