It starts out with a guy asking us "Ever wonder how to reverse diabetes"? It comes on every single day when I wake up before 6 in the morning!

And what household ingredient can reverse diabetes? Just f**kin tell us already!

It's cinnamon.  If you Google "diabetes cinnamon" you'll see all sorts of claims on how it helps Type 2 diabetes.  I hate the hawking in that ad too.  Is this the one where he teases us with "a common household ingredient" or "something you already have in your kitchen"?

I also saw one that says something about rye bread.

What it should say is lay off the high carb food, hfcs-laden snacks & soft drinks & start exercising!!!

My bro eats too much high-carb junk, considering he has diabetes.  While he was visiting, he polished off a bag (about 1,200 calories) of those spearmint leaves jellied candies in the space of about 24 hours.  I don't have diabetes, and I stay away from that stuff, for the most part.  I eat a little bit of sugared cereal in the AM, and if I want some sugary snack later on, I've got a box of vanilla wafers in the cabinet.  I almost never eat bread, and even my former staple---pasta---is something I've cut way down on.

I like a lot of that high-carb junk, but the longer I avoid it, I find myself less and less interested in it.  It's stuff I like, but I just don't feel compelled to eat.

How sure are you that you don't have diabetes? How long has it been since you had your blood sugar tested?

From what I understand, eating candy & sugary foods is not the real culprit. I think the real culprit is a combination of high carb foods made with "enriched" flour, combined with (& most of all) a lack of exercise.

A lack of exercise is what my my problem is. I've been telling myself that when the weather cools off a bit in a couple of months, I'm going to try to get out & walk for a couple of hours about 3 times per week.

I don't know for sure.  It's been a few years since I've been tested.  But I have no symptoms, and stay away from the wrong foods for the most part.  Like I said, bread and pasta are things I rarely have these days.  Even when I make jambalaya, I use that wretched brown rice.  Plus, I've gotten my weight stabilized in the mid-160s.

As far as exercise, I'm up and about much of the time, doing stuff in the house or yard.  Plus, I probably make 30-40 trips up and down the stairs each day.

You should still have your blood sugar tested.

There really are no symptoms per se, for type 2 diabetes.

I have no symptoms either & it came as a complete shock to me when I found out I had high blood sugar.

And just a few short years ago, since I've been posting here actually, I had it tested & was told that it was in the range of perfect.

They were holding a free health screening event. Free testing for cholesterol, blood sugar, blood pressure, etc.

That was the same day a friend of mine, who is somewhat older than me, found out that his blood sugar was high.
