These people don't have that problem. My 600 Pound Life, going on 3 seasons(why?)now.

I've watched a few episodes of that.  OMG.

I once went above 200 lbs, and I was mortified.  I dunno how those people can get to 300 lbs, let alone 600, and continue eating all that they do.

Scrolling through the channel guide last night and saw this - on the weather channel.

Really? So if I wanted a weather forecast I'd have to sit through an hour of fat guys doing whatever they do in some woods somewhere.

LOLThere is a NEW Animal Planet show called 'Treetop Cat Rescue'.
Talk about ABSURED! Just saw the preview and about died!!!LOL
"...oh - this seems like SUCH a nice kitten!...." - right before the cat goes postal at the top of the tree.
Almost blew the needle out of my arm at the plasma bank - and, 2 hours later, I'm STILL laughing about it - I'm still in tears! Could NOT find the commercial, but it MAY be '#1 for 2015'LOL.
This is a show I ***MUST*** see!

Wolves are much too smart to climb trees (cats are idiots with razor-sharp claws).

...is that the actual tagline for the show? "Maria is eating herself to death"? Does the program end when she actually dies? Are bets taken for when it'll happen? lol

Don't these people ever get full? How do they consistently maintain 600lbs, even considering they're completely sedentary? I think on my worst day, I can't eat more than 4000 calories (nowhere near enough to sustain a 600-lbs person)
without feeling sluggish and having extreme stomach pains.

I can understand 300 lbs...there are many high schoolers and college people who want to be offensive line in football. If you want to knock down little itty bitty wide receivers from the opposite team, you need to have 275-300 lbs. But 600 is WAY WAY WAY too much. TLC should be ashamed of themselves for airing this piece of crap.

TWC should be ashamed of themselves for greenlighting Fat Guys in the Woods. Seriously, WTF?! Are the people at NBC Universal (ahem, Comcast...) on crack cocaine or something? I miss the Weather Channel of about 15-20 years ago...Weather 24/7 except for the occasional recent weather special, Storm Stories filler or The Weather Classroom, which aired around 1AM Sunday mornings (west coast time obviously). All I see on TWC is reality shows about chasing tornadoes, and the occasional Weather Center. NOAA is my friend.

Again, Animal Planet like the others should be ashamed of themselves.
In fact, almost every cable channel should be ashamed of themselves!!! Especially TV LAND!! They are such idiots airing chopped up TV shows with more commercials than show. That's why an episode of Friends is 42 minutes long. You get 18 minutes of show, and 24 minutes of commercials...
Back after a long absence...still hating those commercials. Go away Limu Emu and Doug!

Hell, I've gone 25% body fat, and right now, after a few injuries and illnesses I'm at about 20% and mortified.

Learned to stop caring about the weight after realizing how dangerous that had been when I was younger Wouldn't be too upset sitting on 180-200+ (for 5'5" practically the equivilant of 300 for a non-midget)

Just noticed recently that Local on the 8s is no longer "local".  It still goes by the same name, but it only gives the weather for the major cities in the US.  I don't really care about St. Louis weather, and they don't include any cities near me (Sacramento).  San Francisco is the closest, but their weather is totally different.

Also, there used to be a banner across the bottom of the screen that gave the weather for towns near mine, but that's now national, too.

Every once in awhile, I'll eat till I'm stuffed like a pig.  Afterwards, I feel like hell.  The people in this show seem to be in a constant state of that---laying in bed and constantly eating heavy, greasy or sugary foods.  I don't understand how anyone could get to the point where they can't even get out of bed, and then continue on that same path for years.

And how do they wipe themselves?  How do they reach all the way around back, get their hand deep between those pillow-sized butt cheeks, and wipe?

I can only imagine how bad they must stink between their cheeks and thighs, and in those big ol' rolls of blubber.  I mean, some of those peoplke have these huuuge things hanging off them that you don't know what they are.

I mean, look at those things behind her.  What is that?  Shocked

The real reason that there are so many reality shows is because they are relativity cheap to film, and there are many people who are fame hungry enough to allow producers and camera people to film what should be private business in their homes. Just give them a few dollars and they're ready to air their private dirty laundry for all of America to see.

Even the Discovery channel is mostly reality shows now. I don't mind some of the survival shows, but there are way too many Alaska, fishing, redneck shows now. The History channel is mostly the same stuff, but add Pawn Stars and Counting Cars.

Animal Planet has reality shows even. Yesterday I flipped through the channels and found "Tanked" - these two not-funny guys are working on fishtanks.
Even though it's a reality show, I do have a real guilty pleasure on Big Brother. Summer is no-man's land usually except for reruns and a couple of really stupid shows...Big Brother might be one of them at times but it is fun to see the Veto competitions, HOH, evictions, etc. Amazing how long that show has gone on...15 years, now in season 17 now with Julie Chen hosting every single one.

My 600-Lb Life is a no-no here. I'd rather jump off a cliff than see an hour of women eating until they die.

I could sit here, and post many of these shows that claim to be 'reality' and bash the shows in to death. But, I'm not. Rather, I'm going to say what I think is the problem with 99% of reality shows, in my opinion. To me, the major problem is the networks. Most networks today want to be on the cutting edge, and be 'hip' with the in crowd, and to them reality is where it is, and the sad fact is, it's what the alleged 'charts' say we watch the most. Second, this is not a networking decision, it's a production decision. Instead of promoting the good things, many times they only film the negativity and often exaggerated 'dramatic' moments, because drama sells. It's sad really, but unfortunately that's how it is. Sure, we have 1% of them that actually try to be real, and straight forward with you, but, when the majority come off feeling contrived as f*&%, then it kind of ruins the image the few good ones display. My solution: Cancel the majority of these shows, but, evaluate the genuine from the absolutely ridiculous, and once the ridiculous ones are gone, allow the good ones to come back, but drop the 'reality' title, and instead use the title, 'actuality' instead. Reality sounds as fake as masked potatoes being served with doughnuts, instead actuality actually sounds like, "Yeah, it actually is happening." But, until we can have these production units, and broadcast networks actually admit the truth about 99% of these programs, we will be stuck with them. Not forced, mind you. Because, even with who knows, how many channels, we can find something to watch or constructively criticize. And if we can't do that, we have the Internet, DVD's Blu-Ray's or something else to occupy our time when we are absolutely disgusted with what we see on the television.
Back from an unexpected hiatus. Time to rip ads a new one all over again.

Does anyone actually watch the Discovery channel anymore? It just seems like Alaska, gold hunters, survival, car stuff now. Where's the Discovery part now? The only reason that I even check it on the guide is looking for Mythbusters. No Mythbusters, no watching. It's all looped repeats now. What a shame.
