If you're in the NY area you've probably heard this jingle. 1877Kars4Kids Kars cars 4 kids. They have a little boy singing it but also another guy who sounds half dead singing along. Could they not pick someone else?? I can't stand it.

They're everywhere! I've been hearing this lousy bit for years here in San Diego. Dead That kid could not carry a tune in a bucket if you riveted the bail to his hand. And that awful guitar strumming! Pinch

I am sick and tired (there's another tired cliche for you) of all the oh so worthy organizations constantly begging for the extra car, boat, plane, or real estate that I don't have! Leave us all alone! If I feel like making a donation, I'll GIVE you money, and cut the middleman out of the deal. And I do. But I make it a special point to NEVER give money to any charity that has ever begged for my car, if I can remember them doing so.

We actually called one of these places when hubby got his new car and was getting rid of his old one.  It wasn't this one though. They came and got it which was cool.  But alot of these places also send you a voucher for "free 3 day vacation".  They mailed us one and I read the fine print on the voucher (nothing's for free right?) Of course you know what it was. It's a free stay at a timeshare where you are required to sit through a sales pitch. Been there done that. I don't feel like wasting a day of a vacation on that. So we never used it.

What makes me especially annoyed about these commercials is that they assume we all know what they're talking about. I had never heard of Kars4Kids. At first, I thought it was a place where people bought cars for their teen drivers. Because of the noise in the office, I thought they were saying, "To make your car today". Since it was a charity, then I thought it was a place people made model cars, and then donated them to kids. Much later, I found out that they sold donated cars, and used the proceeds for underprivileged kids. Well, then, just say so! Tell me about your charity - don't sing to me and assume I know what you're talking about!

O.K. this is my first post on this forum. I'm so glad to see that other people have as much hatred for this commercial as I do. I listen to talk radio for atleast 8 hours a day so you  can only imagine how much I have to endure this commercial. That kid and that guy sound like they're very mentally challenged. Can you imagine what this commercial would look like if it was on TV?

I totally agree about that Cars For Kids ad. I live in the Boston area and it is played constantly, and on stations where you you would not expect to hear it.  I think the worst part about the stupid commercial,  is that he kid sounds like he is undergoing electro-shock therapy when he sings.

You have to be VERY careful with these places. Make damn sure you have, in wiritng, the charitable contribution on the company's letterhead before you hand them the title. I donated a car to one place oh a good 11 - 12 years ago and my insurance agent talked me through what I needed to do to insure I'd get the tax write off.

Guess what? Kars4Kids has a new radio ad! Do you like this version, Mooch, or is it still annoying as the original ad?

And from the jingle's website, I found out about its history:

1999 - First version of the jingle with only a kid singing released on a local NY radio station.

2001 - Airs on a local NJ station.

2003 - Remastered to the current version with kid and adult singing.

2003 - Released on major radio station in NY – WABC.

2004 - First airing out of NY area- WBBM and WLS in Chicago.

2005 - Jingle hits the west coast airing on multiple California radio stations.

2007- Jingle goes nationwide in 6 prime radio markets on all major networks.

2008 - Chicago tribune does feature story on everyone’s favorite jingle.

2009 - Create your own jingle contest launched with dozens of amateur musicians from all over the country submitting their original versions.

2010 - Don Imus is heard on air ranting about the jingle during a commercial break, later apologizes to  http://www.tmz.com/2010/11/04/don-imus-kars-4-kids-charity-insults-apology-controversy-on-air-live-radio/6/ - 2011 - Heavy metal remix.

Sorry for bumping, but I wanted to share possibly good news with Kars4Kids haters.

I've always hated those commercials...always figured if'n I donated a wreck, it'd be in their posession for 30 days and then when they didn't do anything with it in an appropriate amount of time, they'd find some kids who went and played 'hide and seek' in the friggin trunk; the car would make the news and I'd recognize it and feel like crap.
Nope.
Ain't happenin' here.

But not the regular version that I hear all the time...it was the so-called punk rock version. I had to do everything in my power to not start screaming and punt the radio out of the 12th floor window.

That's in NY?  I haven't ranted about it because I though it was limited to the San Francisco area.  Apparently it's a nationwide scam.  I assumed it was a scam the first time I heard the horrible, whiny little dingus "singing", but that was just an assumption.

Then I searched for kars for kids scams and came up with lots and lots of hits including the Better Business Bureau. Then I found that the outfit is based in New Jersey.  Now THAT makes sense.  I just don't know why they decided to pollute the air waves in San Francisco.
See this, for example:  http://kars4kids-scam.blogspot.com/

You would not believe how quickly a 71-year-old fat guy with war wounds can move when necessary to TURN OFF THE RADIO or change stations.  Sometimes even I am amazed.

They MUST have tested this on focus groups to fine-tune the original commercial for maximum annoyance.  A couple of months ago they tried an updated jazzy version, but they've gone back to the original now.  As annoying as the updated version was, apparently the original just can't be beat for pure, sheer horrible.

I have a confession to make. I actually donated my old Chevy to K4K in August /13. It was out of sheer necessity, and I am not ashamed to admit it. That car had been sitting in my driveway for a couple months and then I got an official notice from the city I live in. Remove it within 15 days or pay a 15$ per day fine untill it was removed. I called a bunch of local boneyards and they said they would give me 100 bucks without the title, or 300 with. Problem was, I didn't have the title, it was lost somewhere over the years. Anyhow, in desperation I called K4K, and they would take it whether I had the title or not, and give me a 500$ donation voucher for my taxes. Whether I get anything extra is kinda a moot point. I'm not getting fined, and I have more space in my yard.

Howie Carr, New England's #1 talk host, as well as listeners, routinely mock or berate the Kars4Kids ads on the air.  His flagship station (and original show owner) WRKO in Boston routinely airs the ads in their market and online streaming.

Recently in January Howie left his longtime Boston affiliate for another station, and there was fantastic on-air celebration by him and listeners over the fact that they would no longer be subject to "those terrible Kars4Kids ads" anymore!  When he left WRKO, he took the full ownership of his show with him, and his new Boston affiliate was only that.

Fast forward a couple months, and his new Boston affiliate deal crumbled, and he decided on returning to WRKO as an affiliate station (among about 20 others across New England) who air his (now) independently produced show.  All that being said, because now listeners in Boston are once again tortured with the horrible Kars4Kids commercials, and they are still occasionally referenced and mocked on-air.  That old buzzard Imus is not alone in making at least a little quip about them!

I was going to start a thread on this commercial but I guess you all beat me to it. This is by far the worst radio ad. I hate this more than the rest! I always change the station when this one comes on. Been on NYC AM radio stations for YEARS. It actually makes me hate kids! Worse than the Ad Council ads and you would think that's just not possible.

You've just dissed Mr. Ed. Sure he made a one shot guest appearance at your friendly neighborhood glu factory circa 1966 but, his spirit still lives. Mr. Ed had a homsey Southern accent. The old Kars 4 Kids guy sounds like a "short eyes" who got caught with his and the kiddies pants down if you get my drift. I do hate these commercials with a passion. Even the slime cock flipping houses Nick Vertucci radio commercials aren't quite as bad.[tube]O0SaMyXFsbI[/tube] http://www.bing.com/search?q=+Mr.+Ed+piloting+plane&FORM=HDRSC1#" rel="nofollow - -

Here in NYC - This eldritch abomination of an advertisement has been played about once every hour on sports and rock music stations - The sports stations have been playing this abortion for about 5 or six years

a Jewish guy from Brooklyn started this sham/scam. It was exposed years ago here in NYC. It should be renamed 'Kars for Yids'. He's filthy rich now and he's nation wide in hundreds of markets. This Tax Free org is now soliciting for boats and real estate in addition to cars. what a disgrace.

I looked this organization up in Wikipedia.

Kars4Kids is a multinational https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-profit" rel="nofollow - - car donation organization based in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lakewood,_New_Jersey" rel="nofollow - - Toronto , https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada" rel="nofollow - - Oorah , an incorporated https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orthodox_Judaism" rel="nofollow - - Jewish https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kiruv" rel="nofollow - - outreach ) organization dedicated to "awakening Jewish children and their families to their heritage."

Seriously?  This is what people are donating their cars for?  This is why I have to look at that kid's stupid hair constantly on TV?  LOL

I went on YouTube to watch a funny video. But...for the advertisement...without any warning whatsoever...my eyes and ears are assaulted by this Kars4Kids commercial. I muted the computer, and I'm now thinking of getting YouTube Red. This is especially dumb because I have ADBlock enabled, which does a great job against advertisements. Two words: why, YouTube?

For the Thanksgiving, my family is listening to the rock radio stations from here in California. Has many good songs, like Demons.

Unfortunately, that meant hearing this damn commercial ALL DAY LONG!!!!!

Update: OH SWEET JESUS! IT CAME ON AGAIN!!!

So I'm going to my soon to be stepmother's house again for Christmas. But of course, they like listening to the radio, so that means hearing this song ALL DAMN CHRISTMAS. I have to do everything in my power to not start screaming and begging my family to change the station.

Why must this ad continue to torture me? Any and all versions of this commercial suck! STOP PLAYING IT, I TELL YOU! STOP! I'M GOING MAD, MAD I TELL YOU! It'll be California-born axe-wielding maniac time if I hear this ad again this Christmas! Stay tuned.

I'm not sure what is playing on the radio in California, this is all I could find.

Thanks, aka, for posting the worst of the worst of these ads!  Someone thought it was cute to have a bunch of big-eyed kids  who can't sing (can't lip-synch, either) and can't play music dress up in pink and black ('cause that's rock n' roll, right?) and "be charming on command".  Forget the mute button - This is a commercial that causes channel-changing the second it appears.  OuchOuchDead
