How I loathe the Hallmark Channel that my wife watches. Thorough vapid, maudlin movies. Most seem to follow the same formula: Gorgeous Woman is engaged to a hard-working businessman; she needs to go "back home" to take care of her family's failing ranch (or orchard or bookstore or vineyard); meets and bickers with a local Handsome Hunk; then the Gorgeous Woman and Handsome Hunk fall in love and save the business. Occasionally they have a theme where the Gorgeous Woman travels to a fictitious European country (where they all have English accents), and she falls in love with the Handsome Prince.

Then there are the insipid "Christmas" movies that they show from late October through December… and also in July ("Christmas in July", they call it). Despite the fact that the Hallmark Channel has its roots as a religious channel, they have turned Christmas from a religious holy day to a sacrilegious romance. One scene that stood out was where they showed couples romantically dancing to Silent Night. Dead

At least, since Lori Loughlin charged with various crimes, they don't show her movies anymore. But then they have movie after movie with Lacey Chabert… I don't know what is more annoying, her nasal voice or that fact that her face has so much makeup that she must apply it with a plastering trowel. Wacko

The plots sound as predictable as a typical episode of The A-Team.

But at least The A-Team, stupid and simplistic as it may be, is sort of fun to watch.

I'm afraid if I was married to a gal who forced me to watch the kind of drivel described above, I'd have to either get my own TV and put it in another room or file for divorce.

I'm getting ads/promos for these shows on The Hallmark Channel, way down here on broadcast TV.  I'm sure freaking ION will begin bragging about their spectacular lineup of holiday movies.

And another thing... the Hallmark Channel seems to be the very last resort for Z-list actors and actresses that could be classified as a "has-been", or, even worse, a "never-was". What comes to mind is Bruce Boxleitner (Babylon 5), Barry Bostwick (Lexx), Ed Asner (Mary Tyler Moore Show), Danica McKellar (The Wonder Years), Dean Cain (The New Adventures of Superman), Lacey Chabert (Party of Five), Lori Loughlin (Full House), et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. How embarrassing for them all.

^  Don't forget Valerie Bertinelli who, I assume, is now playing Grandma in all those flicks.

She'll be doing 'women's prison' films from now on...  Wink

Oh that's nothing. Hallmark Movies & Mysteries went to 24/7 Xmas crap around the 19th of October. It's earlier EVERY SINGLE YEAR. No love for Frasier! No love for the other sitcom reruns! Just crappy Christmas movies from the cookie-cutter Hallmark film factory. None of them old, and none of them classic.
Why not just start a new channel? Hallmark Holiday. 24/7/365 Christmas s--t. Even throw some B-grade cartoons in that mix for the kiddos. Ho ho ho all year long!

Just think of what your TV would be like if a used condom supplier had the ad power of Hallmark..\

I see the Lifetime Channel is now on the act (showing sappy romantic Christmas movies well outside the Christmas season).

But I suppose this is marginally better than the stuff that they used to show: incessant movies showing an Innocent Woman who is confronted by an Evil Man who is a cheater/manipulator/stalker/alcoholic/abuser/rapist/murderer.

No wait,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I see.................. Congress starting up a NEW HOLIDAY !!!!!!!!

It will take place in "mid-summer" and be the twin of Christmas..........

So we can all go insane all over again............ Of course we can all buy too much......

AND BUY MORE HALLMARK CARDS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(You can bet that Hallmark and Walgreen and Costco etc. will be behind (suggest) it))

But...........................

It will be passed off as the BRAIN CHILD of some Senator!

Pretty sure any B-lister will be wringing their hands by the Christmas mooning over either
their lost love or
some fatal illness that prevents Xmas 'joy'

And another thing! Lacey Chabert, the Queen of Hallmark movies has a nasal voice I can't stand (and a face plastered with makeup that I can't stand)! Her buck teeth is a turnoff, too.

In the spirit of Christmas, I want to share the misery:

December 30th and still playing Christmas S__T. Time for Hallmark to buy more channel space, place all the holiday stuff on there 24/7/365 and put Frasier and other sitcoms back on post-Xmas.
