Gordon Lightfoot's, "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", which tells the story of an iron ore freighter ship that went down in a major November storm in the early-1970s.

Really Nasha?  Don't all songs try to tell a story?
Some are just more haunting and chilling than others.

Isn't there a 'Donathan's Song' around here, somewhere? Think it was 'banana music', of some sort or maybe something about bad things that happen when you wear your jockey shorts backwards...

Cummon, everybody please give Nasha a break here...she may not in fact be Donathan; we don't want to alienate a perfectly good commercial hater from the only place we have online to vent our h8red of those little 30- and 60-second pieces of H-E-Double-Bendy-Straws that are played back during our shows now.

We now return to our regularly-scheduled programming, already in progress.

...no - and that is concerning. We must be 'mentally-warping' a perfectly good member. Strange how we enable the innocent to jump to perfectly unreasonable conclusions. We're just a bunch of sick bitches.
Is there a song that tells a story about that?

If there is, Thor probably knows about it.

Sounds the kind of musical genre he'd be familiar with...

I thought this thread's title rang a bell.   In fact, my first assumption when I saw it was that it actually was Ken's thread getting bumped, but lo and behold it wasn't LOL

The similarities are not hard to see, People have given you good advice, you don't have to be some show pony going for the next 100 page thread.

If I were to ever go to confession, it'd take so long to get through it all the priest would die of old age before I got done. And that's only if he didn't die from shock first.

Wait, my son.  You did WHAT??  .... *thud*

If I so much as dipped my finger in the holy water on my way into Church, my skin would probably start smoking.

And yeah, I'd have to do my confession in sessions. But as soon as I begin muttering "Bless Me Father" I'd already be ex-communicated!

^^ One thing about the epic saga that's Donathan and Co. is that there have been a few good threads among the more egregious ones.  Case in point - the Random Things thread. Look how long that one's gone on and still ticking strong.

Of course for every good one there are 3 or 4 about Stinky farts or Boss crushes LOL

LOL LOL

Hence the birth of the next batch of Donathangs.

Speaking of - With a little tweaking, the lyrics to the Brady Bunch theme tell the story quite nicely Tongue

Here's the story of a crazy lady
Who was making up three very lovely girls.
All of them had hair of gold, like their mother,
With haunting, chilling curls.

Here's the story, of a man named Donathan,
Who was busy making up three boys of his own,
They were four men, with Twix complexions,
Yet they were all alone.

Till the one day when the lady met this fellow
And they knew it was much more than a hunch,
That this group must somehow be the same person.
That's the way they all became the Donathan Bunch.

Songs that told stories of the sea were popular there for awhile.  My favorites:

Sloop John B by the Beach Boys
A Salty Dog by Procol Harum
Ride, Captain, Ride by the Blues Image
I'm Your Captain by Grand Funk
Brandy by Looking Glass

"Ballad of the Yarmouth Castle" about a cruise ship that burned is even more intense than The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald. It is on the Sunday concert album. Thor; your songs of the sea are good ones and I remember all of them. I will add Southern Cross by Crosby, Stills, and Nash.

That song, not to speak of the real story itself, has always been way too long and just too damned depressing...so, here's the musician who actually 'fixed' the song.
