Yoplait "Swapportunity"

"Sorry about your date the details of your date."

The woman who delivers this line should be kicked out of the book club (and the actor's union).  I think she daydreams and doesn't listen to what her friends are saying about loser dates they've had, then she comes out of her hallucination and has smashed some heart shaped "bad" dessert cookies and has chosen the yogurt instead.  She then interrupts with the "sorry about your date..." line which makes everyone freeze and look at her like she's an idiot, because SHE IS ONE.

Plus, (and I love that I can come gripe in this forum) I HATE marketing/advertising words that are not actual words.

Yes!!! That commercial is the reason that I joined this forum. I can't even suffer through it. I have to mute it or change the channel.

I'm sorry Yoplait, I don't think your CLEVER new word is going to be accepted by Webster anytime soon, so you can stop pretentiously quoting some fictitious definition for it everytime you use it in a commercial. I also can't think about the word without thinking of that asinine "oh ho ho, it's REAL!" spelling bee bitch!

And - yogurts on ice? Who the hell does that, even at a woman's book club?

I agree with everyone.  This commercial is annoying and the lady blurting out "sorry...", that's just cheesy. I've never heard of yogurt on ice either but I guess they're trying to keep it cold like a beverage, so it won't spoil while they're talking??? The most annoying thing about the Yoplait commercials is Lisa Kudrow's voice.  It's loud and annoying, especially when she says "we probably shouldn't be helping you with your love life."

I always wanna grab one of those heart cookies.

Fancy-shape cookies are pretty "in" now.

Let's all be honest here.... If you want a damn heart shaped cookie or a candy bar, no one and I mean NO ONE is going to swap it for a yogurt. I love yogurt, but I'll gladly take a candy bar instead.

I think the broken heart-shaped cookies are supposed to be "broken-hearted" that the lady chose the Yoplait Light over them (you don't actually see her smashing them, so the only other possibility would be that they broke on their own).  Adding a REALLY BAD pun to what was already a lame enough spot.

And I would be remiss not to mention that the woman also makes that "orgasm" face when she takes a spoonful of her yogurt.  Which makes this food porn, thus ticking most of the important commercial hatred boxes.  Food porn?  Check.  Horrendous acting?  Check.  Fictitious buzzword?  Check.  General lameness?  Check.  The only thing it's missing is a song a la "Nothing's missed with Tena Twist"... but this is Yoplait, so that could be in the works...

Totally agree (with both pghs.)--except that there is one more thing missing--the obligatory female referee to keep women who supposedly are fond of each other from insulting each other, a la the ridiculous Cascade Kitchen woman. In real life, no one would look, talk, or act like the women in this commercial. Poorly conceived, poorly cast, poorly executed. And like one of the other posters above, I love (some types of) yogurt but Yoplait has a losing battle to convince me or anyone else to pick yogurt over cookies at a social gathering.

I've hated the word "swapportunity" ever since it emerged from the spelling bee commercial!

Agree 100%.  Especially Light yogurt, which ALWAYS tastes nasty because of aspartame.

Finally saw this commercial yesterday. Yogurt on ice? Seriously? Ick, gimme those heart cookies any day.

Oh, and Yoplait, please please PLEASE stop it with this stupid "word" you've coined. It'll never make it to Webster's dictionary (although "bootylicious" did Dead) so cut it out.

"Swapportunity", like "bootylicious", would make it into both Webster's and the Oxford dictionaries if it caught on.  I just don't see that happening.

I didn't find the commercial above so bad (except for the word 'swapportunity'), but *this* one just rubs me the wrong way.

And they've even got '#swapportunity.' Ugh.

Yep, the "spelling bee" commercial is one of the all-time worst.  It generated a ton of hate on this board, and deservedly so, a year or so ago.

I just saw a new one today - I had the TV on mute while it was on so I don't know if the dialogue/acting is as bad as in the one posted by the OP, but this one had "smiley face" cookies that turn into "sad face" cookies when the actress chooses the Yoplait Light over them.  Next time I see it I'll watch more closely.  Couldn't find a video, so it must be brand new.

There are few faces in commercialdom I've wanted to punch more than that bitch in that commercial. That commercial almost makes ones like the one this topic is about tolerable in comparison.

The most annoying thing about the Yoplait commercials is the tag line at the end, and the way it's enunciated: It is so good.

I love how the date "showed up in a van, smoke pouring out of the back." Must have been one of the ad execs who came up with "swapportounity."

Yeah, that, or Cheech & Chong.

Tweet off!

I sent a tweet to Yoplait #swapportunity telling them that their buzzword made this web forum, and to come up with an original concept. They tweeted back "LOL Sorry it missed the mark for you #donttakeitoutontheyogurt."

Interesting. Buy the stuff because the word and the commercial wowed you, and the marketing folks are happy! Buy the competition because it "missed the mark for you," and you're "taking it out" on the product.

I'm not even cutting off my nose to spite my face. Yoplait is good yogurt, but it isn't the only fish in the sea.

Though I'm not big on social networking, I think it's useful as a medium for us to mobmard...uh, bombard...advertisers with our feedback.

I agree with everyone else; I HATE the word swapportunity.

Also, I find it rude that this woman is apparently so hungry, she has to start wolfing down yogurt while her friend is talking.  No one else is eating!

"LOL Sorry it missed the mark for you #donttakeitoutontheyogurt."

Yeah, I don't like that at all.  It's like "tough crap customer, you didn't fit into (or get) our brilliant idea" and sorry, we've got to get back to more important things!

Not only the tone of that response is irritating, so is the syntax (or lack thereof).  Can they not take the extra time to properly punctuate a sentence instead of resorting to a stupid hashtag?  If not, that, combined with these horrid commercials, tells me all I need to know about Yoplait.  I never eat Yoplait anyway (I always get the generic fruit-on-the-bottom yogurt when I'm shopping) and I'm not about to start, given that these awful spots are now the first thing that come to mind whenever I see anything having to do with Yoplait.

FWIW, I finally saw the newest "Swapportunity" commercial unmuted today, and it's not smiley-faced cookies, it's smiley-faced cupcakes.  The commercial features a mom mulling over what to have for a snack as her daughter either reads aloud or plays (can't remember which) in the kitchen, and noticing the smiley-faced cupcakes.  She chooses the Yoplait Light, and the smiley-faced cupcakes become sad-faced cupcakes.  Mother says in an annoyed voice, "What?" and her daughter thinks her mother is talking to her.

Not quite as wretched as the "book club" spot with its horrible acting and ridiculous dialogue, but it still sucks.

The kid sounds like she's a special need kid... I feel bad the mom ignores worrying about her weight when she clearly has a kid with issues, ppl should stop obsessing over stupid things and help their kids

I still see this pile of crap sometimes and it's so annoying. And who honestly thought it was clever to come up with the word 'Swapportunity'? It's beyond lame and stupid! Stop making up nonsense words!
