I just saw a commercial where this lady is shown zipping her jeans very slowly, anticipating if she's reached her weight loss goal. Then she starts celebrating and it changes to a scene where she's speaking to an audience saying I'd like to thank Multi-grain cheerios, and it zips back to reality and her daughter is standing there saying "Mom...those are my jeans..."

First of all, she needs to just get her own pants.

Secondly, I'm tired of all the weight loss commercials...makes me feel guilty for trying to GAIN weight.

I'm sick of all this "multi-grain" crap anyway.

Multi-grain is just a big farce.

If it isn't WHOLE GRAIN, you are just wasting your time & money.

If the first or second word in the ingredients label is not "WHOLE", followed by "wheat" or "grain", it's no better than anything else.

I tried Multi-Grain Cheerios. It tasted stale. I got ripped off. Ouch

"People who choose more whole grain tend to weigh less than those who don't".

So, there's a correlation, but not a cause-and-effect one (otherwise they would have said there was).  Yet the advertisers are implying that this sort of product will actually cause you to lose weight.

It's like saying that people who take vitamins tend to weigh less...and so you start taking vitamins and expect to lose weight as a result.

People who choose more whole grain probably take more effort to eat healthier foods in general than people who don't. People who choose more whole grain probably don't tend to slather their food with butter or eat bacon for breakfast everyday or go to burger & fast food joints several times a week, etc., etc.

Has much less to do with eating the whole grain foods specifically than it does eating an overall healthy diet.

But like you siad, the implication is there.

Haven't seen those Homepride butter top bread commercials in ages. Always loved them.

ikl005 You just reminded me of my maternal Grandfather. His breakfasts were combinations of: eggs, bacon, sausage, bisquits w/gravy, pancakes, waffles..... Yep! Killed him deader than sh*t at 90!
