Please help stop an eviction! Visit this link or this one to find out how I got in this pickle in the first place and how you can help.

I was a victim of online fraud. Although my bank recovered much of what I'd lost, I'm still $350 short on May rent. I lived on a fixed income from SSA and SSI, so I have no backup.

I paid what I could for rent ($285.00) but I am still short and an eviction could happen by May 15.

My PayPal account is still fuxxored, so I can only accept checks, money orders, and cash.

You may email me at ledmuseum@gmail.com to get my mailing address(I have a new address as of three weeks ago!).

Thank you VERY MUCH ahead of time for your help! Big smile

Sorry to hear!

Do you have anything you can pawn?
Have you considered giving blood?
Any relatives or close friends that might be willing to help?
Do you have a car- Title loan?
Cash advance? I suppose they would consider your SSI payments as income.

I can't complain but sometimes I still do.

Nothing to pawn -- almost everything that I owned was in offsite storage in Washington. My stepmother allowed the bill to go to pot and the contents of the storage units were subsequently auctioned off for $422 late last year. Angry

I can't give blood because I'm a faggot and I have a couple of very gay tattoos that show that; even if I were to lie about it, they'd see my ink as soon as the phlebotomist picked up my arm to put the needle in.

No relatives or close friends that could spare more than ~$20 or so.

No car -- my sole source of transportation is an electric wheelchair.

My income is too low to qualify for any type of cash advance. Been there, done that, got the T-shirt and the coffee cup.

Must be some kind of social services in your area to help a disabled person.

Maybe you could get a pro bono lawyer to intercede for you, or someone from county legal aid.

Go to your local TV station. They'd jump all over the chance to do a story on something like that.

We have a CIH friend who may be able to provide good advice - I'll PM you the member's username. Explain your situation (don't ask for money - ask for advice). I'm not sure of the member's legal field of expertise, but it sure can't hurt to get a lawyer's thoughts.

Now, mind you - I'm no lawyer, but I CAN provide a touch of 'Pro Bono' PaWisdom - hope it helps.

Right Away! 'Pro Bono' ('For Free') Eviction Lawyers exist almost everywhere. They exist for YOU and YOU need to contact one now.
Here's one group that may be near you:

For ANYONE renting living space:
Local government would be able to provide you a copy of what is referred to as your state's 'Tennant-Landlord Act' and 'Tennant's Rights'. You can even get the Landlord's Rights. They probably are even online. Review these as you may find that a threat is one thing (lying and threats are not illegal, taking action may be another story altogether) reality is often quite different.

Always remember contacting your Legal Aid and Referral - always the 1st number in the lawyers section of your Yellow Pages and they exist everywhere. You can explain your situation, especially financial and make your handicaps/disabilities known and ask for an attorney who will perform 'Pro Bono' ('For Free') services. Even though YOU can look up groups such as I provided, you know little about them, so even though they may have good intentions as I do by referring a group I know nothing about other than they would address your needs, your Legal Aid and Referral Service knows more about who they are joining you up with and *I* would think that would work to your advantage.
If you wish to know more about your attorney, remember every attorney has a 'Bar Card' which you can look up in the states in which they practice. There's some professional data that may be of interest to the prospective new client.

Pa is right... as a tenant, you have rights.

Exercise them.

In most states the eviction process takes about 90 days.

During that time, they can't lock you out or remove your belongings from the residence.
