You've no doubt seen Pizza Hut's ad blitz for the Big Italy double-size pizza with 3 toppings. Only $12!!!

Well, save your money. Got one tonight and we won't be buying another.

First, the thing looked nothing like on TV. There, it sorta looks like a "stretch" round pizza--semi circular ends with straight sides. Kinda cool. And thickly piled on toppings almost edge to edge.

Instead, ours was a mostly rectangular crust, just with rounded corners. Problem was, the sauce and toppings didn't come anywhere near the edges. Seriously--one of the corner pieces, about 4" square, had one pepperoni-sized area of sauce, cheese, and toppings on the inside corner. The rest was just dry crust. Same way down the sides...most of the pieces were about half toppings, half crust. Looks like some drunk pizza maker spread the toppings.

And the toppings were put on very sparingly. The baking pretty much dried up the thin coating of sauce and cheese, and the mushrooms, sausage, and pepperonis were so sparse that you were lucky to get two of the three in one bite.

Finally, the crust was bad. I usually like Pizza Hut's crust but not this one.

To top it all off (no pun intended) they don't even put it in a box--it's on a thin cardboard tray inside a paper bag, like Little Caesar's used to do with their Pizza Pizza. (Maybe they still do--LC's left our area many years ago.)

This will probably be the first time in 20 years we wind up throwing out leftover pizza.

You should go back & complain. Take the left over part back maybe. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave you a coupon for a free pizza. If you get one again, tell them about how bad the last one was. Do that & they'll make you one piled up with stuff so thick you'll need help carrying it.

Oh, & LC doesn't do the "Pizza Pizza" anymore. They do "Hot & Ready". A large cheese or pepperoni for $5. The 3 meat is $8 & the supreme is $9.

And it's not half bad.

We were interested in this "Big Italy" pizza...sorry to hear about the experience.

Might have been a while before we got around to getting one as the only nearby Pizza Hut was torn down a few months back...

Good advice, Jimbo. Might try that soon. One thing though--my son really likes Pizza Hut but I'm not crazy about their toppings. We got mushrooms, onion, and half peppie, half sausage on this one. I could hardly taste the sausage or onion. And it's not just because they didn't put much on, I've noticed that on other PH pizzas we've had.

Much better when get those toppings on a pizza from our local italian joint.

I was intending to buy the Big Italy pizza this weekend, but forgot and ordered Domino's instead. (My local Domino's has a carryout special, 2 for 1.)

After reading this, I'm glad I chose Domino's instead.

The Big Italy pizza sounds like the return of the Bigfoot.

Pizza Hut is okay, but I've noticed that over the last decade or so, their pies have become so bland. Even when you get them loaded with toppings, there's just no flavor. I used to love their pizza.

I like Papa John's more. There used to be a chain around here called Peter Piper. LOVED that place...I think it's still around in the southwest.

I had one of those Big Italy Pizzas...and I liked it!

Very crackery crust, real herbal, I think Pizza Hut is trying to make this into a Real Italian Pizza.
Thank God for kids who love Obscure Things.

Maybe it's just the pizza Hut you got it from. They probably made it wrong.
