King's worth half a bil. No surprise. I wouldn't have been surprised if it was more. |

Yes, he certainly is quite prolific as a writer. I remember back in the 80's, SNL did a little Weekend Update skit poking fun at what a writing machine he is... He must be typing 200 wpm like an office secretary. |

Seems about right, a real typewriter, that Stephen King. James Patterson's another one. |

Well it WAS the 1980's, afterall. Yeah, word processors existed then, but they weren't ubiquitous like computers are today. Plus, I guess the typewriter got the point across better and gave it a funnier visual appeal. |

Well, I was calling King a real typewriter. Just a little play on words. Very little. |

Ah, got it.
Maybe if you had said "...a real human typewriter..." I would have gotten it. |

Maybe I should get a laptop. I miss real typing. This touchscreen one-key-at-a-time thing is a drag sometimes. |

Back to topic... ESPN's baseball analyst Eduardo Pérez. I don't care what his credentials are, his voice is like nails on a chalkboard. In fact, the entire ESPN horde of talking heads has made this sport unwatchable. The self-proclaimed "Worldwide Leader in Sports!" ... and THIS is the best they can do to present a fricking baseball game? C'MON, MAAAAAAN!

John helps kids with their wishes and visits them in hospitals when they're sick, so I disagree.

Agreed. For a guy who says "you can't see me", we see him too much. |

King said that he was so high on cocaine at the time (mid '80s) he doesn't even remember writing Tommyknockers |

I'm of the belief that drugs actually do enhance creativity. In fact, I actually like some of Hunter Biden's art. |

Since this thread keeps getting bumped, I can add a few (or reiterate on a few...)
So glad Rachael Ray is ending her show. She's a rude a$$ off-stage and even with her production crew. Off to Italy with you and John! Just about the whole cast of Big Brother sucks this year. They don't even seem like real, whole-hearted American people. They are just actors and actresses willing to suck it up for the camera as they get evicted one by one. I used to watch Big Brother every summer and it has gotten worse over the past few years. Sorry, Julie. Most current game show and reality show contestants annoy the heck out of me. Not many shows left where calm and collective contestants play the game for a chance at big money and prizes. It has to be the "5-shot espresso screamfest" contestants...i.e. on The Price is Right, Beat Shazam, Family Feud, Let's Make a Deal. As I watch classic Bob Barker episodes on Pluto TV, I realize that the contestants enjoyed their time there without hounding it for the cameras. "Samoans", aside, of course. Speaking of game shows, did I ever tell you how much I can't stand listening to or seeing Kelly Ripa?! Especially with this Generation Gap game show that she has. I don't find it funny or entertaining at all. 9-year-old doesn't know who Richard Simmons is...75-year-old granny doesn't know Ariana Grande, HAR HAR HAR LOL!! Yeah...right.

Back after a long absence...still hating those commercials. Go away Limu Emu and Doug!

^ Yeah, it's all gotta be over-the-top, in-your-face exciting nowadays. I remember a few years back when major league baseball commercials used all sorts of fast editing to make baseball seem exciting. |

Not just game shows, but go to any sports event. Loud music, bright flashing lights that would trigger seizures people in epilepsy, energetic PA announcers who tell the crowd to get loud. I remember the days where if you would go to any hockey game, the music would just be an organ played during breaks.
