Yep, we're getting the 5000th release of some movie from 10 years ago, now with super un-rated 3-D Explod-o-vision MegaColour Spectacular, meanwhile, movies like the Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddie collection have yet to even be released on DVD, let alone be colourised (Say what you will about colourisation, but I dare ANYONE to deny that Rose Marie, Maytime, and Girl of the Golden West would look stunning in colour.)

And, honestly, unless the film is SPECIFICALLY made with 3-D in mind, I've yet to hear of a single case where adding 3-D did anything good for the film.

A film is released to the Theaters 15 or so years ago. Six months later it is released on DVD for $15.00. Another six months go by, and I pick up the flick, as well as another one using the $10.00 Gift Card I procured from an Auto Dealer. Today it get's re-released "In 3-D". You expect me to pay $ 15.00 to see it again when I already have the film on DVD?

I used to love 3D, bit it's lost its fun/novelty element over the past 10 years or so.

This is just another nail in Hollywood's Coffin. Rather than make original movies they either remake old ones, or "Rehash" them with some crazy "Gimmick" (Such as "3-D"). Angry I know someone who bought one of those newfangled "3-D" TV Sets, but then discovered it was giving nearly everybody who watched it headaches. Ouch He wound up taking the set to a Pawn Shop where he got about 1/2 of what he originally spent for it, he used the money to purchase a "Regular" HDTV Set.

I tried one for 30 seconds in an electronic store and it did the same thing to me.  I think the people that buy "3-D TVs" only do so because they want to say "My Censored is bigger than yours!"

I actually can tolerate remakes, because they typically nudge on a DVD release of the original film, especially good in some cases where the film never got a DVD release in the first place.

I bet the local news looks smashing in 3-D.

Just another way for George Lucas to pump more money out of a franchise that's already died a thousand deaths.

Also, lends further evidence to the fact that: No matter what it is, if it was shat out of George Lucas' fat pasty ass, people will pay to see it time and time again.

George Lucas is so overrated. His biggest creation is a shameless knockoff of Dune.

Well, he did Star Wars and American Graffiti, too.  Those were pretty big.

Star Wars is the shameless knockoff in question.

I think mostly they release them in 3d in make more money. Like they are showing Titanic again. Just because it was a hit doesnt mean ppl will want to watch it in 3d. let the past stay in the past and bring some new movies out.

I stopped by BJ's Wholesale Club the other day to pick up a few things, and as I walked by the display of TVs right inside the door, they had the Titanic 3D promo playing on a 60" 3D set. I've checked out their 3D TVs a couple times, and frankly, I just don't get the attraction.

In the mid '60s, color TV was a great leap forward, in terms of viewing experience. (I know, because I was there and saw it myself.) Then in the early 2000s, HD was another great leap forward. We've had HD since 2005, and you'd think we'd be used to it. But there are still times a scene will come on that just litereally takes my breath away.

But 3D? I've checked out sports and movies in the stores, and it's a baby step at best, if not a step backward. Regular HD looks more realistic to me.

Or maybe I'm just too dang old for any more newfangled stuff...LOL
Hundreds of threads killed.
