I'm sure this is going to get me a lot of flames from so-called "bronies", but what is the deal with the obsession with My Little Pony all of a sudden? All of the 'meme-sites' have MLP all over the place and there are references everywhere. Is this something where people like it to be 'ironic'? I really don't get it. And this is coming from someone who still loves watching cartoons. I seriously don't get it. The animation is bad, like most modern cartoons that just look like they were made in Flash or Shockwave and the voice-work is horrible.

I don't get it either; it's even infected a Ghostbusters site I frequent and there are a few mashups going on O_o

Agreed that the 'animation' (I hesitate to even call it that) is atrocious.  The 'new' Looney Tunes show has the same style and even my mom hates it.

I believe 4chan is responsible. Just like everything that's stupid and pointless and suddenly appears and spreads allover the internet. Rest assured, it will disappear soon enough, only to replaced by something equally or more stupid.

I think the real theory behind the show's appeal is that it's a quite decent show (better than most kids' cartoons today), but if you take a look at My Little Pony's earlier animated incarnations, Friendship is Magic seems like Citizen Kane by comparison.

But I also buy Mrs. Faust's theory:

"I didn't create this show for little girls, I created it for little girls and their parents. It only stands to reason that adult animation fans without children may like it too."

P.S. Yes, I'm a dedicated brony and yes, I'm getting tired of the endless meme pics.

I'm addicted to this show, since I love My Little Pony!
My favorite characters are Apple Bloom, Applejack, Twilight Sparkle, Bon-Bon, Celestia and Luna.

Really, I would be a fan of this show even if it wasn't a phenomenon, mainly because I have a thing for cute things, and this is right up my alley.

As for the animation, I too hate a lot of Flash, but this doesn't have that sleazy look other flash shows tend to have. Voice work is pretty good too. The only flaw I can give it is that some of the plots seem a bit generic/overdone.

That said, Fluttershy FTW! :D

I would like the show, but there are way too many memes and crap affiliated with it. If that stops, maybe I'll sit and watch it.

Personally, I always have and I always will love the older My Little Pony.  Sure this new series is cute, but I can't get into it like I get into My Little Pony Tales (back in 1992, on The Disney Channel).  I'm getting quite mad that I can't go on Youtube to watch an episode of Tales (since the DVD doesn't exist in the US for some stupid reason)  without seeing a bunch of reeeeeeally rude, hateful comments from bronies about how God-awful the old series is.  :(
