Hi kids. Do any of you have migraine headaches? I have had them for years and recently they have gotten worse. I want to hold off on the really bazanga drugs for as long as I can. Have any of you tried anything that helps?

My daughter has headaches, but the doctor has ruled out migraines.  At any rate, she gets relief with a neck and back massage. She bought a package from Massage Envy.

I've known people who got migraines.  Sounds awful.  Once in awhile, I get one of those tension headaches at the back of my head and neck from sleeping in a bad position, but that's about it.  Wish I could help.

I have had them damn nearly continuously since suffering a near fatal accident in 2001. I've been on several different meds to combat them. Currently (and with decent success) I have been taking Maxalt. It's rather costly, yet it takes care of the pain and nausea without leaving me dopey.
Go see yer GP, it's definitely worth it~

imitrex is pretty mild but works. But it can affect some different. I don't always get it. I actually do two excedrin and an ibuprofen. Seems that combo takes off the edge, but my migraines are horrible to me but mild in comparison to what I have heard.

I get the kind where I wake up with the lip-twitching nausea, a sign that I'll be vomiting and in pain for the next 18 hours. Literally, cannot even keep a sip of water down. Luckily it's not that often (3-4x/year). Got some MaxAlt that helps.

I used to manage a large office and had several people that would have migraines.  They really looked like they were in pain.

After a while, I did notice a pattern among them based on work personality.  They were all great workers, but they did seem to have a low tolerance for stress.

Oh well, I'm sure no expert, but since my daughter now has terrible headaches that her doc has ruled out as  migraine-caused, I'm more attentive of them

Hoot- it could be that they know that stress leads to the headaches, which would make them want to avoid extra stress whenever possible!

I seem to have inherited my mother's migranes- they can run in families. Only I don't think she had the vomiting episodes.

Mine seem to be a form of "CVS," or cyclical vomiting (migrane) syndrome, usually seen in children and triggered by positive stress, of all things (like an upcoming holiday.)

First or second time I had an attack, was the day before my now-husband proposed to me: We were on a great vacation, perfect weather. I had no idea he planned to propose, but it was such a great trip I was heaving in the bushes outside of a restaurant one morning, and letting stuff out the other end like never before in a store bathroom. Beyond pathetic. Next day, though- hunky dory.

A migrane isn't necessarily a headache; it's an attack of the nervous system, and can manifest itself in other, inconvenient ways. Sucks to be sure.
