Has anybody else seen the new McD's Filet of Fish commercial with the "singing" fish? My God, it's so stupid and annoying. I can't believe any ad agency would come up with this drivel and even more, that any company would approve it to run.

''GIMME BACK MYYY FILET O'FISH!!! GIMMEEEE BACK MYYY FIIIISSHHHHH!!!"
At least for one commercial Mickey D's got away from the urban crap, only to bring us crap about 20 times worse!
Besides, if I want fish, I sure as [7734upsidedown]won't get it from the Golden Arches. Long John Silvers, or better yet, Red Lobster or Joe's Crab Shack is where I'll head- unless I'm near the coast.
Doggie tip---avoid Captain D's if you have them in your area- their fish has absolutely ZERO taste.

doggie, I would avoid ALL the places you mentioned except Mickey D's for a fish sandwich...lol. Better yet go to a fish market or restaurant that specializes in fish. Long John Silvers food is so disgusting I don't know how that place stays in business.
Have not seen the commerical yet...but I always liked their fillet o fish sandwich....hope they did not use ....

Between McDonalds and Wendys, now that today is Ash Wednesday and the start of Lent, seems they're all jumping on the fish bandwagon.
When I worked at McDonalds (ok, granted it was 1978) we sold MAYBE 50 - 75 fish sandwiches PER WEEK. During Lent!

Shh, Madawee - child labor laws....
I worked at McDonald's, too, for my first job other than babysitting. I think we sold more Filet's than you did, but they weren't "huge."
I recall being shocked that the pies were deep-fried in the same thing as the filet's.

I've seen this commercial. It is truly weird.
And the guy with the sandwich...kinda looks like...a certain forum member who shoots TV's and has five children and a few dogs.... (going from posted photos, btw).

I actually like LJS's "fish & fries". Granted, I only go there once and awhile for a quick lunch. It has to have been years since I bought a fish sandwich from MickeyDs or Wendys.

That's pretty nasty, at least they don't fry the pies anymore, they're baked. A lot of people are pissed off about not having fried pies anymore though. |

"Fried Pie"
damn... that's scary but intriguing. I kind of want to go to a Marie Callendars or somewhere similar buy a whole pie and dunk it into a turkey fryer. Would I eat it? Hmmmm I admit I'd try it. More so I can say the words "Fried Pie" over and over. I too worked at McDonald's. It was my first over the table job. I was 16 and man, labor laws be damned, I was closing that place on weeknights, staying till 12 am. Closing was fun. |

I just saw it and I could barely understand WTFFFF the damn fish was saying! Besides, this commercial came 8-9 years TOO LATE when the singing fish was all the rage.

Wow...had no idea what this thread was about until about 10 minutes ago - about when I came scrambling to search for ANYTHING related to that very, very strange commercial, after seeing it for the first time. Actually, I can't say I don't like it; it simply sits in that odd corner with others such as 'Nannerpus'. I like MickeyD's Fish Filets. |

I don't really like fish. I guess that's why I like McDonald's Fillet O Fish.

Remember, according to PETA you can't call fish "fish" anymore. So you have to change the name to fit in with the new PC term. So....
Enjoy your McDonald's Filet of Sea Kitten!

On Wednesday night after ice skating lessons, I promised my kid she could get a happy meal. It was Ash Wednesday. I figured I'd get a filet o fish, to celebrate.
Perhaps it was divine intervention (I always feel like death after eating that stuff) because when we got to our local McD's, there was a big fence around it and they are tearing it down!!!
The kid cried. We drove through Burger King, which was across the street.

This commercial seems to be following the trend of modern oddball 'artsy commercials:

I laughed so hard when I read your post....!
Actually on one of the Food TV shows there was a show that spoke about fried pies in the deep south, it's all the rage there, along with fried pickles.
At the county fairs they fry almost everything you can think of.
*(is that why I don't like the apple pies anymore, they don't taste like they used to years ago)

I really hate that commercial. The singing fish sounds like Peewee Herman who got on my nerves even when I was still old enough to be in Peewee's target audience.

I couldn't even understand the fish for a while, mainly because I wasn't paying attention.

I don't know if it's because I'm a dork or something, but I LOVE this commercial! The beat's really catchy and I find it to be really funny. I have the best sense of humor out there anyways And I love their fish filet sandwhiches, that's all I order. Although, I'd like to try Wendy's kind since you "know" where it comes from according to their commercials...

Consider yourself lucky. Once you have heard that horrible singing it burrows it's way into your skull for hours.

I like the commercial too. I like how the fish is desperately singing about getting the filet o fish back and the guy couldn't care less. He's just grooving to the tune and eating his filet o fish sandwich.
Btw, I'd take this anyday over, I'm lovin it.

Wow! It must be lent again. Every year McDonald's rolls out another stupid ad to sell their disgusting Fillet o' Fish sandwich during lent.
In as much as I'm an Englishman, and I've pretty much eaten my weight in fish and chips in the past, I cannot see myself buying this shyte. I don't eat that crap anyway. Burgers or Nuggets either. |
