A whole crowd of people here (and elsewhere) hating a "scatological" piece of entertainment as much as I would? I must be dreaming!

LOLneeehhhh....methinks if'n you actually HAVE (not 'had', nor 'intending to have') a little 'stinker', it might be easier to have a feel for the commercial. You might actually get 'sold' by this commercial.

If they had another baby wearing diapers that weren't Luvs, and then that baby had a blowout (disqualifying him/her), that would have made the commercial for me.

WinkOur oldest son, AfgyWolf, did exactly THAT.
Our favorite baby pic of him is framed, on the wall - he is on his belly, in the obligatory 'sailor suit', holding himself up, not unlike doing a 'push-up'.
He has absolutely the sweetest smile, I tell ya!
Little did we realize he was doing a 'push-out' - and possibly a historically terrible one. It was SO bad that EVERYONE tried to leave the studio, but we pushed MissyDWolf back in to 'correct' the situation (as we went for gas masks).
He never wore that little blue & white (it started out that way, but couldn't be salvaged) sailor suit again and I didn't get any 'attention' for at least a week, for physically forcing 'daMissusDWolf into the room and then enticing the crowd to hold the door shut...
To this day, every time I pont at the picture and remind her of how cute he was back then, she remembers everything and I suffer another week.
'Blowouts' happen...it's just a crappy fact o'life.

They did... sorta: OOPS I Crapped My Pants.

I agree, this commercial is disgusting and stupid. Yes, we all know that babies poo and wet themselves, but this is false advertising as a baby doesn't poop THAT much.

Some strange sociological implications.  There used to be an old joke (I mean VERY old) about how a Frenchman's sense of humor was in the bedroom, a Brit's sense of humor was in the drawing room, and a Germans sense of humor was in the bathroom.  (You should read Martin Luther's writings.. he was absolutely obsessed with scat).

I agree with ya all, this is a disgusting, stupid commercial.

I have raised four children, and was a fully involved father.  That is, I believed there was no such thing as "woman's work."  Yeah, diapers too.  Lots of 'em.  No problem.

In all that time, through "thick and thin" (pun intended) I never would have imagined that it wouldn't be until the youngest of my kids was 17 that I would finally be sickened by anything to do with diapers.  But after seeing this commercial, I can say it's true.

As for the ad's creators and Luv's marketing folks, we are in the midst of what they call a "Race to the bottom."  (No pun intended that time.)

Just by looking at the title on Youtube, I see they went as far as to put it to the old hip-hop song "Whoomp! there it is!".

Which takes it to a whole new level of wrong if it's true.

I think there must be some kind of secret contest to see how gross of a commercial the executives at Luvs can foist on us viewers--whoever can make the last viewer toss his lunch wins.

I can just see the process playing out.  The scene: Not very bright bunch of 20-something advertising execs just out of school (and diapers themselves!) brainstorming on deadline.  Laptops, empty Chinese food cartons and coffee cups litter the conference table, bags under eyes.  Suddenly one of them comes up with not very bright idea for new Luvs campaign, instantly (and desperately) all present in the room believe it to be brilliant!

Art Department crew called in immediately, work through night putting together slick presentation for next morning's big meeting.  Execs cab over to Proctor & Gamble HQ  first thing in the morning & pitch it to not very bright, 20-something Luvs Advertising Committee group.  Animated "American Idol" style sh!tting contest proposal a big hit!  Heavy back-slapping, promotions all around, many self-congratulatory drinks accompany concept-to-completion "victory" for Luvs blockbuster campaign of the new advertising season.

Public reaction tanks.  Execs puzzled!

That's one of life's mysteries, as well as how Wizards of Waverly Place is still running, and how they make their specials sound "actiony" even though they're predictable and lousily written. Hell, I can already guess Alex and co. will win together in a cop-out ending.

OK, so there's nothing dainty about a baby soiling his or her diapers. Despite that, it should remain impossible to use "babies" and "blowing a##" in the same sentence to describe anything on television! Dead

Maybe the fact that humans can't remember their own diaper-loading days is a survival adaptation (in any case, a blessing!).

I've never had this happen to me whenever I order something from "The Big River". If something like this ever does happen to me, I would not hesitate to get their Customer Service Number, and as soon as I had a Human on the line, I'd IMMEDIATELY proceed to

Absolutely repulsive. As if having the infant who can take the biggest sh*t in their diaper is something to be proud of? Hell, if I was the parent of that kid, I would probably shoot myself.

Why in the hell is this supposed to be considered cute, endearing or humorous in any way? I think it's completely repugnant and something that I never want to see again.

The thing I find most disturbing is how the animated cartoon infants huff and puff before they fill their diapers. That's f**king gross, I don't care who you are.

Do diapers really need to be advertised? People who need diapers will purchase them regardless of how much the company panders to them or advertises. There are lots of things that really don't need to be advertised, including most hygiene products, but also including diapers. If people need these products, they will purchase them. They do not need to be convinced of their need for these products.

I speculated earlier that it must have been conceived by a bunch of 20-something ad execs who thought they were really clever, presenting what they figured was very cute potty humor to a bunch of 20-something corporate execs at P&G, and all of them sitting around a big conference room table patting themselves on the back and soiling themselves thinking how very clever they all are.

Reminds me of George Carlin back in the day, asking the audience, rhetorically, if we really need to advertise Prep H?  He suggests we could bury "butt cream" under a mountain and if you need it, you would find it!  So I completely agree with your point here!

You'd be surprised at how many über-zealous mothers, or "Mombies" (as I like to call them) think everything their precious crotchfruit do, which includes taking a dump, is adorable.

If you think this ad is repulsive (which it is), you'd be horrified (and trying to corner the market on Brain Bleach) if you were witness to the number of idiot parents who proudly display pictures on Facebook of their kids' poop (in kiddie potties, in bathtubs, on the floor, and in some cases, smeared on walls and/or on themselves) - complete with captions about how cute and amazing they find it to be. ::shudders::
