These ads have got to be the most pathetic in radio history.  They mostly air on Clear Channel radio stations

The older ones try to make you think your an alcoholic.

"Do drink just to take the edge, off.   Its just one drink. Then you take another, well who's counting?"  Isn't your life such an unbearable mess that you hope to drown in pile in your own puke so you won't have face another day of your miserable life.   Hi!  I'm Lucinda Bassett, founder of the Midwest Center for Stress and Anxiety.  Like you I used to suffer from anxiety and depression as a result of being named after and resembling the appearance of a smelly, slobbery, wrinkly, short and stout breed of dog.  Kids at school also used to call me "Lucinda Basket Case".  I learned that I could cure my anxiety and depression, not by the use of drugs, but by getting rich off of other neurotic women by creating a phony institute and selling expensive self help tapes with recurring charges on their credit cards.

The current one is case of too much information.  "I'm feel so much stress.  I am overweight tried diet and excercise but am unable to lose weight.  Every night I drank, curled up into ball and cried myself to sleep.  Lucida Bassett's program helped me"  I wish the above paraphrasing was an exaggeration of what the ad contained  but it is not!  A case like that is candidate for professional help, not self-help!

I wish I had MP3's of them to post just to highlight how terrible they are.

"You may be sitting there wondering how you're going to make it through the day."
I can't stand her. I may not suffer from depression but I sure feel drained after listening to one of her ads, which seems to be every commercial break (I do in fact listen to a Clear Channel station)

I've heard those ads too and I hate them.  There's a strong vibe of "doctors and drugs are EEEEEEEEEEEVIL" running through them, not to mention "It's all in your head, and all you have to do is reprogram your brain with HAPPY THOUGHTS and you'll be just fine."  Now, I realize that milder forms of depression/anxiety can be managed without drugs, but some people really, genuinely need the medication, and no amount of sunshine-and-roses talk is going to change that.

Oh, I also remember an ad where she said "Drugs aren't the answer for most people"(emphasis mine), and I wonder if she'd been legally forced to add that.
