Very clever.

The paint commercials I hate are the ones that depict some nicely-dressed young couple painting their living room neatly and quickly.  Even worse is when they paint some geometric design onto the wall as if it's easy to do.  I had a helluva time just butting my darker wall colors up against the white ceiling.

^so true.
I once had grand plans for my office - wanted it painted a certain color so as to create a subliminal psychological effect on anyone who entered (even arranged all furniture in a specific manner, for this one). The whole damned thing worked like a charm, but painting the room (which had to be done properly) became such a pain I ended up hiring a professional.
~~~
Of course, one of my great long-time compadres figured out why I did what I did, so when I was out on business, he had my ergonomically-correct (and expensive as hell) chair removed and replaced it with a old toilet, which he got from a dive hotel being demolished. He was good about it, though - cleaned it up, painted it gold with 'Deposit Mail Here' in black on the toilet lid, and set it behind my desk. I actually used it until XMAS eve when I snuck out, went and got it and left it at the front door of his residence, with a pretty red ribbon on it.
Until we left Texas, that toilet made its rounds for a few years - it would trade residences on an irregular basis between a few of us, pissing off the wives...it DID get repainted a few times, but I couldn't accuse any of us of being 'Masters' (with the paint brush)...
What color/subliminal effect were you going for?
I once heard that people don't like hanging out in lavender-colored rooms.  I heard this when the owners of the comedy club I used to work at, decided to paint the one bathroom in the place.
I worked in this really dumpy office for a few years.  When the salesman was given a budget to furnish a small empty office, he decided to get this elaborate and garish, big blue leather chair that cost like $400.  Something like what Daddy Warbucks would have.  It was pretty funny, considering his desk was just one of those cheap metal things, like a teacher would have.
It was kinda like this:
It was a pastel light-lime green, which was extremely easy on the eyes. In combination with the furniture, whch was open - everthing visible to anyone in the room, with no seperation (used a round table for meeting with people. Only square table was in the back and supported a monitor, which I ensured was always easy to see by anyone in the office. This was meant to provide a comfortable, secure, equal, and honest feeling for anyone who came into the office for any reason.
I had one discreet locking drawer for necessary papers.
In *my* books, dark colors are bad in rooms - the more light - especially natural light - the better.
I like dark colors.  I painted my living and kitchen dark colors.  I also have 2 picture windows in the living room, and one in the kitchen (along with a "wall of windows" that faces the patio) and white floors.  So, plenty of light.
Kitchen---3 colors---wheat, dark green and maroon(you can't see the maroon here, though):
I had an open budget when it came to ergonomically-correct anything because four of us had back injuries (2 severe) and all our doctors pushed ergonomics for us. We even got an 'office specialist' (assigned by human resources) once I started ordering furniture. She came in for the initial set-up, then periodically thereafter, to make sure we were correctly using what we purchased. All was very successful and  the practice permeated throughout the organization over time...then sadly faded lke a fad.
These days...working from 'The Swamp'...the estate is oooold and large, but my 'home office' is a light peach-tone with open windows and ceiling fans, flat screen & 4 machines (3 facing, one behind), 2 office chairs. It's a tight fit and my old mini-dachshund makes me sit in the lesser of the chairs (she's more of a bitch than Miss- strike that).
Up at The Den, office is light cream, tons of windows with cross-breeze, plenty of sunlight through the trees, right near the water (well, of course - it's on an island!)...
Finally got rid of my corporate office - I sit wherever I want when I enter any of our stinkin' buildings...
LOLWhat a maroon!
Maybe I should cryCry...it is pretty clear anyone who did that really never had acquired anything materialistically-satisfying and 'opportuunity knocked' at work. That is sad, especially if that was it for his budget.
This commercial is hilarious! I espically love the part with Vincent Van Gogh!
One good thing about TV-you could always turn it off
He just did it as a joke.  Pretty funny and smart guy.  Brother of the conga player for Santana.  As I recall, the chair was returned pretty quickly.  It barely fit behind his desk.
That.    Even using painters tape, you have to wait until the first color dries before you take the tape off and re apply it to the freshly painted surface.
^  And if your walls are textured (as mine are), the painters tape doesn't apply that well, and paint will sometimes get under the tape.  Then, you have to go in with a little artists's brush and correct it.
