That is messed up.
The company cannot do most of what it promises the clients.
They also do not tell you that even if you nothing happens, your credit report takes
a hit for checking it so much. So typical of ads these days.
was feeling nostalgic

Never buy anything endorsed by radio stars Rush Limbaugh and Paul Harvey.  They may be legendary announcers, but they can sometimes be terrible sales jockeys.

Good of you to bring this one up, MB - the first time I saw the truck with the CEO's SSN on it, I simply *knew* he was basically "still wearing diapers and playing with loaded weapons". Any technobrat will latch on to a challenge like that - and, without doubt, probably MOST of them got into his business. There simply is no substitute for 'common sense' - and if you've THAT, you don't need no stinkin' 'LifeLock'.

Speaking of evil hackers who enjoy a challenge (and, did I mention? are evil) my Dad told me about these hackers, who are going to rot in hell.

"Don't do LifeLock - keep your 'cards close to your chest'"

VioletLightning...those folks deserve the worst they can be granted.

It will happen.

Once upon a time...
There were reasons the D.O.D. kept their 'connectionless network' protected and, for a lack of better words, 'under wraps', for so long. I don't give a damn WHO says they 'invented' the internet...for the most part, they are F.O.S.
Anyone want to disagree? PM ME - WE CAN TALK.

Maybe those self-proclaimed 'inventors' helped create what we call 'Domain Name Services'; 'friendly names'.
That was a start - a LOT grew out of that.
Big deal.
No matter.
Give 'em a f'n buscuit, for heaven's sakes!

In regard to the D.O.D. - I'd refer to their thought as 'foresight'. Their network ALWAYS terrified me; it is OPEN. So much 'perceivable' benefit; too many 'loose ends'....I've constructed things in manageable, hierachial manners - something not necessarily a desired 'emloyed concept' when a the possibility of 'greenback benefit' is involved. I liked to believe my efforts lead to new SAFE avenues one could take. I don't 'do it open'.

"Identity Theft"? Simply NOT a possibility.

Some folks still believe their product must stretch beyond simple personal gain...it must lead to the next 'blue sky' offering that will amaze and confuse - and 'sell' the consumer.

Risk.

Not that I alone could have, or can ever made any sort of difference - I just refuse to contribute to what I perceive to be the 'exploitation of the next green pasture'...these days, I just know where I won't go; what I don't trust.

Why go there when 'our own back yard is a mess'?  We're always fighting "today's data miners", getting sold by 'pretty colors, cute critters, and stupid billboards' popping up in front of our faces...feel safe?

Again...a six-pack of beer, an bright, but socialogicall-inept and businees-minded, idiotic child with selfish motive - someone dumped at M.I.T by 'Mommy & Daddy' -  and a 'nothing-else-to-do-type', loose on a Tuesday evening leads to things I don't really want to deal with - but, well - I have to.

MissyDWolf (God forbid) can get involved.

NOBODY wants that.

It has been LONG KNOWN opening it up would bring 'new challenges' to go with 'new opportunity'; personally, I was (very much against my better wishes) very heavily involved in the very successful implementation of what, for lack of better words, one might call, "Do It Yerself Banking" .

It's YOUR Money....

C'mon...expose your Social Socurity Number???!!! Gimme yer f'n wallet, foo'!

Long ago, I made my point in regard to how I manage my 'chump change' - never again..."To Each His Own".

Hadn’t heard that his information had been stolen.  Pretty crazy, but not surprising, that they were able to change his information too.

There is no 100% effective way to prevent Identity Theft.

It is interesting though, that in this country, any time a company is perceived as having deep pockets, people create (or attempt to create) class action lawsuits against them.

If you feel you've been wronged by the company's advertising, why not go after them as an individual?  You make more money that way anyway... Class action suits really only make attorneys wealthy.

But I digress.

Will be interesting to see what happens with the lawsuits.

(If anyone is interested in hearing what they had to say about their service prior to the lawsuits, as well as prior to the TV campaign, you might be interested in the interview we did with them... http://www.identitytheftsecrets.com/an_interview_with_likelocks_mike_prusinski_and_rev.html)
