I can't find a video for this piece of garbage (which might be fortunate for those of you who haven't seen it, who knows?)

Anyway, it shows all these kids coming back to school but instead of walking through the door normally they are walking down a fashion runway, showing off their totally lame hip Kmart clothing. This whole idea is stupid enough, but the fashion show-style music is the worst part. A couple seconds into the commercial this horrible techno-y sounding high-pitched bubbly fake talking sound starts with some sort of tune and beat along with it.

This commercial is totally jarring every time it comes on. Unfortunately, I have the TV on a lot while I'm doing other stuff, so I'm not always looking at it when the ad comes on, and then by the time I'm hitting the mute button, it's too late!

Omg yes, you are like me on this. everytime this commercial comes on it is so annoying. i either turn my tv on mute or off so i dont have to listen or see this crap.wow i'ts horrible. i think this advertisement is directed to people with poor taste in music or have annoying personalities but i dont think that was their intention i think they wanted it to look hip for the kids. this is anything but hip and instead it is loose butthole.

I HATE this commercial with a passion.

Every time this Censored comes on I dive for the remote

I can't believe that type of noise is popular with kids/teens, it sounds like Censored.

Censored you Kmart for doing this crap, thanks to you I've decided I won't buy your clothes the next time I need them.

I want to slap silly the arsehole who approved this ad.

Haven't seen the commercial. Perhaps it's because they've closed all the Kmarts in my area.

I understand that 12 and 13 year-olds (especially girls) are going to be obsessed with looking fashionable in school.  But there's one commercial (I don't know what store it's for) which shows 6 and 7 year-olds all dressed up and doing the runway thing.

What 6 and 7 year-olds even care about this stuff?  It's obviously more to fulfill the parents' needs than the kids'.

What is with the Alvin and the Chipmunk-y frigging trend in music?  So damn annoying.  I can't even understand what the f*ck the voices in this commercial are saying, they are sped up so much.  They may as well be saying, "Me, I want a huuuula-hoooop!"  Fricking HORRIBLE.

Yep, that would be the cancerous tumor of a commercial.

Agreed, but that's probably exactly what older folks said about Elvis, the Beatles, metal, punk, rap, etc. when those artists/genres came out.

You win. Everyone always has something to say when a new type of music comes out. Its just music changing along with the times.

This commercial is just agonizing. Do people actually consider that crap to be music? And can they please stop encouraging children to dress like Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus? They look ridiculous.

There's also the fact school is for learning, not flaunting your stupid clothes.

Very valid point, Princess.  I think it's lost on a good deal of the general public, sadly.

Try to enfoce that when their peers are sporting the latest fashions. I wish school was for learning. History is being molded to the current political view of the day. Our children need to know the real history good or bad!

Exactly!

There are always some little terrors that manage to make it like a fashion show, not learning... sigh... Unhappy

There are more than a little of the terrors. A majority of these Elementary to Middle School children are forced by their peers to wear the latest fashions. All of the parents should say stop! Unfortunately if one or more parents indulge their brats then all parents must "keep up"!

Do you guys ever get the feeling that these kinds of commercials are aimed at competitive parents determined to make THEIR child look the most fashionable despite the fact that school is NOT a fashion show?

If the kids are 6 or 7, as I mentioned earlier, it's aimed at the parents.  If the kids (especially girls) are pre-teens, it could be aimed at the kids.

A 21 y/o woman I know told me that, when she was that age, if your clothes came from Walmart or Kmart or Target, you were considered lesser.  She said that clothes from Abercrombie & Fitch (and a few other places, which I don't remember) were what you had to wear to be popular.

She grew up in a town where the median income for males is $100,000.

Except for all that music that came out before rap is actually listenable compared to rap and this new crappy techno-rap. The generational argument CANNOT be used as an excuse for this new "music".

I think it's aimed at both. Boys may not care at that point (although some might, I'm not sure), but I know that at least some little girls do. That combined with their parents caring how cool their kids' clothes = $$$ for these stores! Unhappy

Hell, celebrities dress their babies and toddlers up in expensive designer clothes.

But we encourage this crap by encouraging celebrity.  The next big Hollywood celeb is that new Olympic swimmer/gold medalist (I couldn't even tell you his name).  Seems he's already planning on moving to LA and starting his own line of clothing.

You're not supposed to know what they're saying,
It's one of the most popular music styles in the US
It's called Dubstep.

I agree, I find that stuff unlistenable too, but your argument is still flawed due to the simple fact that PLENTY of people called rock and roll unlistenable. Plenty of people called(and still call, for that matter) metal unlistenable. And plenty of people call the stuff we're calling "unlistenable" good stuff, and are, well, listening to it, so it's clearly listenable for those people.

So yeah, all the music that came before may all be listenable to me or you, but it certainly wasn't to a lot of people at the time.
