*bang bang* And that wasn't him knocking - that was me pounding his smarmy face in!
Just saw a new commercial featuring everyone's least favorite animated douchebag, hawking Hondas in a mock campaign-speech setup. Why did they bring him back? Just when I thought I could erase all memory of this damnable campaign from my head...they have to bring him back! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

lmao thanks for banging his head in. Unfortunately he is a cartoon and much like Wille E. Coyote he just won't die, come anvil, cliff, or head bashing.
I too thought I would never have to see him again until just a few days ago. I have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to bring 'Mr. Opportunity' back. Opportunity can be a bad thing too. For instance anyone who takes advantage of this sales opportunity will probably find themselves much further in debt. Or if you stupidly leave your keys in your car another 'Mr. Opportunity' will make off with it. No wonder 'Mr. Opportunity' seems like a smug jackass.
The only car commercial I can think of at the moment that I hate more than this one is the one that played during President's Day nonstop and just featured the president's theme music (whatever it is called) played over and over again with SUVs spinning on platforms, balloons flying, and red, white, and blue abounding. I came to dispise that music they played it so often.

It does my heart good to come here and see that others are irritated by the same thing. This seemingly innocent commercial has rubbed me the wrong way since the beginning. I can't even put my finger on it beyond this somehow inherent smugness and "holier than though" feeling that permeates the ad. And I hate the way that guy looks. Its like a wimpy Honda driver "personified". If this guy had a ride in a real car, he would pee his pants. Or you could expect a lecture from him that anything other than a "smart" Honda is a foolish, wasteful purchase. I could go on......

Thanks for that kind welcome, Madawee! *hugs*
I think the reason I hate Mr. Opportunity so much is just....his attitude. The way he talks just makes him sound like he's so superior to us Honda-less plebes...and for that he totally needs his face pounded in with a Christmas tree....or to get hit with a dart....and various other tortures >:-) |

anyone else notice that Mr. Opportunity and paul the animated esurance douche look very similar? they both are irritating and worthy of the mute button. maybe they are long lost brothers who have united to annoy the crap out of america. it makes sense if you buy a honda you have to insure it.

He's a combination of two of the most annoying things in commercials: the smart-ass "smooth guy" and an annoying cartoon.

Saw this commercial 2 times today. It sucks ass. I like how ads are now using the "Pain at the Pump" phrase to try to sympathize with people for that added effect.

this is the same voice who narrates Funniest Pets and People, I feel ashamed.
If it were possible I'd like to buy that Honda and then run him (Mr. Opportunity) over with it. |

I think it's the voice of Jason Lee, of "My Name is Earl" and "Almost Famous." And I keep thinking they're using a pun (would that be a pun?) for "missed her opportunity" or "missed your opportunity," as a warning . . . not to miss your opportunity.

I heard Mr. Oppurtunity was mugged at gunpoint a few years ago.
He was so traumatized he had frequent panic attacks that were so severe his wife left him.
He was prescribed to Xanax and he felt so much better, he took twelve at once and it put his brain in a constant state of euphoria and enthusiaticness. That's why he's chirpy and f**king annoying because his mind was practically melted.
That's why he rapes your ears and mind so.
It's really not his fault.

No offense intended to anyone here, but the voice actor is probably short and bald, that's why they are drawing a cartoon in his place.
