I didn't pay too much attention to the heat index, the humidity seems to be lower after some light rain earlier today. 80% with a Dew Point of 65.

I heard a couple of pretty good downpours last night, I still want to get the pump running.  I'm gonna get out my spiker. Some parts of the yard, mostly the perimeter, are not looking very healthy.  The soil gets compacted and does not allow for happy grass plants.  I have a couple bags of grass seed I will spread after I spike those areas several times.

Agri-Fab 45-0309 10-Gallon Spiker/Seeder/Spreader, Black
This is my Spiker/Spreader, I've never used it for spreading seed or anything else.  I did the areas I wanted to.  I add a lot of weight to the hopper so it penetrates well.  If I could still physically do it, I would rent an aerator which actually pulls a plug from the ground. Air, water and nutrients are what a happy lawn want.

Got the irrigation going too. I couldn't get the top plug loose on the pump. This is where you prime it.

I had 2 options....

Bring the pump into the garage where I can set it on it's side on a hard surface.
Or, and I'm always thinking of the easiest way to do something. I drug/dragged the hose out there and used it to prime it through the inlet, fill the suction pipe with water (it has a check valve) and make the connection.

IT WORKED!!  I had only 2 sprinklers that weren't working right, usually caused by a clog of some sort.

I'm hurtin for certain. Ouch

Mowed the lawn yesterday, at 79-80°! Got the rest of my chores done today, nice and comfortable out!

We go to bed with the windows open, now it's too cold in here.  51 degrees outside.  It feels good in bed!

I closed the windows, turned on the big TV. It gets so warm it's actually a heat source for this part of the house.

I've been trying for several hours to get this place cooled down, 79.5 degrees in the kitchen.

A warm 67 outside, humidity is 93% with a Dew Point of 65.  I'm proud of our effort to cut utility costs but I'm about ready to close the windows and turn on the A/C.

The weather guy said that some much more comfortable, dryer air would be moving in from the northwest, he was right.  A dramatic drop in humidity!

71 degrees ambient
38% humidity
45 degree Dew Point

Was going to put water in the pool yesterday, but got 4 inches in an hour, and another 3+ inches today, so that was timely...   Big smile

A pretty good line of storms is moving through right now.  I had to look up the formula to determine the distance away from a lightning strike. Sound travels a mile in 5 seconds, nothing very close to us so far.

We've entered our daily afternoon thunderstorm season.

For the past one or two days, some pretty nasty storms have passed close by, narrowly missing my part of town. That happens occasionally.

The black clouds will be visible in one direction or another, the lightning will flash all around, the temperature will drop about twenty degrees, the wind will pick up and the thunder will rattle the dishes... but the rain never comes.

I like when that happens. We get the cool down without the sloppy wetness.

We had peaks of sun earlier now just bland and grey out. Wait a minute, can it be? The sun's out again! Whoo hoo!

Only a few more hours of cooler temps.  I'll have to turn on the A/C a little later on this morning.

Tons of rain since Saturday, I'm guessing 2 to 3 inches.

Northeast Regional Past 24 Hour Precipitation

Started out pretty steamy hot this morning, but thankfully it's gotten kind of cloudy and breezy, so it's not feeling as bad right now.

Hopefully it will stay this way and the rain will hold off.

93 degrees here in NW Indiana the past few days . the heat index makes it feel 105 f. No wind , heavy humidity . cottonwood hanging in the air like sneeze inducing snow flakes . the atmosphere feels like you walked into a wall of heat . my A/C hasn't kicked off in a week . it's set at 75 deg. Just so I can breathe with my sh*t can lungs .
It grinds my gears

It topped out at 103°F (39.4°C) yesterday; right now (1:53pm PDT) it's sunny and 96°F (35.6°C).

You must consider geography before you scoff at these temperatures; we're in the Pacific Northwest where it's a miserable wet heat and not a dry heat.

Add into that the place where I'm living now has no AC. :-O

^ I don't see how you people live in hot conditions like that.  My body just can't handle it.

It's still friggin raining, I had to mow the grass. The ground is saturated and soft. It had been over a week, it was a little clumpy but it turned out pretty good.

I would never guessed that it gets so hot in the Pacific NW.

I always figured that the mid eighties was about tops for that region.

The humidity and dew point have dropped off sharply.  Windows open with some fans running and a very pleasant 71 degrees.

I got the boat running, I may put it in the water tomorrow. More likely on Sunday because I have a couple of other things to do tomorrow.
