Another one that makes me gag while I'm lunging for the remote & fumbling to find the mute & channel change buttons.
Nothing I hate worse than cutesy-wootsey, fake girl-bands portrayed by adorable little aspiring actress/models & voiced over by someone else who isn't even in the ad, but has the kind of cutesy-wootsey voice the ones in the ad don't. YUCK!!!!! Just one more phony, contrived, 30 second turd plopped into my life by those damned Commercials I Hate!!!! Speaking of turds.... my cat just laid a fresh, stinky one. How timely. PEW!!!!! |

Ughh, "own it" another one of those annoying over used phrases. When I was filing my taxes, the little pop-up helper box said "Don't worry, you got this". I wanted to punch my computer screen!

This commercial is so boring I'm only interested in the SUV they're riding in. Looks to be a 70s or 80s Bronco or Jeep Wagoneer. Of course theres no great view of it so its its a PITA to identify!

Yeah, I was wondering about that myself. How the hell is some Hello Kitty, born to be mild, milquetoast little girlie band gonna blow an amp when their wimpy sound is probably something very similar to Pomplamoose & you can barely even hear them beyond 10 rows back? I hate phony, contrived, pretentious crap like this. |

I know this thread is over a year old but I came across it and had to comment! First off, the commercial you talk about IS ridiculously annoying....especially to those of us who are girls and who are, or have been, in all girl bands!
But I think it should be known that the makers of this commercial hired REAL musicians to be the actors....look up Meg Webb, Phoebe Bridgers, Jessica Collins and Steady Holiday (the females in the commercial in the fake band "Young Violettes"). All of these women are insanely talented and a couple play several different instruments. The girl that does the voice over I believe is Meg Webb, who you can find on Instagram playing guitars, a harp, piano and shows with decent acts.....even if you hate the kind of music they play or whatever, you have to admit to the crazy talent of these musicians. Sooooo.....just thought you all should know. Being a female musician is really trying at times. And both commercials like that one AND the super sexist comments about the commercial, make it even more difficult. I don't know if anyone would have had such a problem if the commercial was about a sappy all male band.....just saying... |

You couldn't be more wrong. We are equal opportunity "h8rz" around here and we h8 annoying media douchebags of every stripe. Gender, race, creed or color, it doesn't matter. If someone does some suck-ass thing that ends up on our TV screens and in our faces, we h8 them with equal fervor and intensity. As for their "talent", many of us grew up in the 60's & 70's, listening to the original artists and bands that pioneered rock and popular music. Some of it was crap, but most of it was either pretty good or "insanely" good. Personally I (and I know others here do too) question what passes for "talent" amongst younger people nowadays. I'll go ahead and take your word for it with this band, but not without a large grain (boulder actually) of salt. (Oh, and BTW, thanks for reviving one of my old dead and forgotten about threads!!! ) |

Hey listen.....I am almost 40....my "girl" band played punk rock.....I was just pointing out that they are real musicians and I don't think they made that song but it doesn't matter. You said they weren't musicians and just actresses...and I just pointed out they were and to take a look for yourself. Some of them have posts from the commerical shoot too...I want to beat the f**k out of this dead horse!!

That means you were born in the late 70's, and as such, were just entering your teens around 1990, which would probably put your girl band days around the late 90's or so. Nope. You still missed it, and are from an era where the overall quality of music was already beginning to swirl down the crapper. But that's not to say you all weren't good or anything. Just that you see it from a "disadvantaged" perspective. But as for the dead horse comment, you do realize that comments on discussion forums tend to generate responses, right? So go ahead, let's beat on this ol' carcass... |

sadly since the advent of digital downloading, the sales of actual CDs and vinyl (if it's released in that form) aren't even close to what they used to be back in the day. Most bands now only make their money touring not in album sales. |

Or even more sadly, as with the band who is the subject of this thread, through having their music used in television commercials to flog some crap product. |

All-girl rock bands have always been more about the novelty than the music. Even Joan Jett knows enough to have males backing her up.

The Bangles had some pretty tight stuff.
Their music was pretty tight, too. |

The Go Gos, too. But those are exceptions. There's also the Donnas, but I don't know much about them. And there was a female metal band in the early 80s called Girlschool. I liked a few of their songs. I think they covered ZZ Top's Tush.
I like the Runaways, but they were hailed from the beginning as a jailbait band. I remember the radio promos back in the 70s. |

Also in Fanny was Patti Quatro, Suzi's sister. And both were in a band called Suzi Soul and the Pleasure Seekers (later called Cradle) back in the 60s. There's stuff on Youtube. |

As far as I can tell, she was a female singer with the usual all-male back-up band. |
