I was watching the “pre-game” show leading up to the Super bowl. And that, logically,  lead me to thinking about the Romans.

A few thousand years ago we were herded into a stadium to watch the current sporting event (s). Now we call this a “harsh” time. But in that then it was as modern as the (then) drachmas could buy.

Today we spend the current monies and are herded into a stadium to watch violence. These efforts are also broadcast to an infinite number of people. And to pay for all this transmitting they are intertwined with scenes that are meant to help you buy this product or that service. Everyone wins in this effort. You get to see violence and they get your time to sell you something.

TMORROW it will be the same. But in a thousand years you will no longer need TV’s.

You will seek out a place to safely close your eyes. With just a thought you will turn on your DNA implanted receiver. After you have approved the correct amount transferred your mind will be flooded with the images of some violence. It will, of course, all be robots who have been approved by their union but it will be violent with many of the robots being dis-membered.

Three days later your mind will awake and begin to think about the next game to experience. Of course complete with commercials announced by the sex of your choice.

Look Out Future.............. Here we come.

EDIT********************

Oh and the only reason the gladiators didn’t have numbers on their shirts is because all those pesky Roman numerals wouldn’t fit.
