There are other threads on here lamenting the corruption of Discovery, TLC, History Channel, etc. etc.
How about the sorry state of the Weather Channel? When did it turn into the Global Warming and Fictional Weather Disaster Channel?
I remember when you could check TWC any time day or night and see a weather broadcast, but no more. Now, especially in the evenings and on weekends, you never know what you're going to find.
If they want to pump up prime time with shows about historical weater disasters, fine, but I've seen listings for shows about "what would happen if a Force 5 hurricane hit <insert coastal city name here>". Come on!!!
I just checked my channel guide to see what's on TWC right now: It's a show about extreme athletes visiting Cape Hatteras. WHAT???

Those weather documentaries mentioned by IHaveStandards belong on other channels, such as Superstation WGN. Perhaps the folks at the Weather Channel took Howard Stern's harsh criticism too seriously when he once said that anyone who watched The Weather Channel for merely ten seconds is a complete loser.

Last year when I visited Seattle, Washington (It was raining) I turned to the Weather Channel to see if the Storm System that was causing the weather was going to be in the area for a while, or if it was going to clear up. After enduring ten minutes of Commercials they went to Coverage of a Hurricane that was hitting Mexico, then they showed the forcast (Today Only, not Tomorrow) Showed a Radar map of what was going on within 50 miles of Seattle, then Some More Commercials, then back to the Hurricane. I watched for A FULL HOUR, never once did they show a National Map of the USA and what was going on in the Pacific Northwest. I was short-term local or the Hurricane only!

I gave up turning to that channel. Now I just check the paper or internet, if I am on it.

Intellicast is the one that I use. Usually pretty good and the radar is as up to date as I have ever found. Weather Underground is pretty good too but I is a little bit of info overload on occasion.

I only liked the Weather Channel from 1982 to 1998, the time when weather was their top most priority and not some completely unecessary shows, coughStormStoriesandItCouldHappenTomorrowandAtmospherescough.
