Hadn't re-upped my cell phone in a while because I use only the basic features. But since my son went to college we text each other quite a bit, and texting on a regular number keypad doesn't cut it for someone wordy like me.  Ermm

My son asked for a new phone for Christmas, but we didn't get to go look for one until mid-January. He got a Samsung Alias dual-flip...
...which is a very nice phone.

I was due for the "new every two" credit so I decided to get an LG enV 2, which has a front keypad plus a flip open full keypad:

This phone is very cool. I like the convenience of calling and answering without flipping the phone open. But it's also need to have the full keyboard to text with. The inside screen is large, bright, and much nicer to use when reading a text (or email, if you have that service) or using the 3 MP camera. When using the camera, you can open the flip to its second position, which is basically fully open to a flat position like a book.

The speakerphone is excellent, and can be engaged automatically by opening the flip. Voice dialing, which I use heavily, is very accurate. Battery life is outstanding so far...just sick standby times, I think the book says 300+ hours, of course it's less when you call more, but I've had the phone 16 days, leave it on 24/7, and I've charged it twice.

If you want to use it as an MP3 player, or take a lot of pix/videos, it will take up to an 8GB micro SD card.

As expected, the ringtones are terrible, which seems to be the case with all newer phones--except for one that's like the old CTU phones on "24". Needless to say, that's my ringtone.

About two weeks after we bought the phones, I saw mine advertised on TV for $30 less than I paid. I checked my son's phone online, but the price hadn't dropped. I was going to stop in at the Verizon booth at BJ's to get a credit, but I decided to call first. Turns out, I didn't have to go in; the rep took my phone number, pulled up the sale on his PC, and applied the credit to my account. Then he checked on my son's phone--and it had just dropped $50, so I got that credit too. Total 80 bucks back, and I didn't have to leave the La-Z-Boy!!! Big%20smileClap

Bottom line, when I get my $50 rebates on both phones, my LG is free, my son's Samsung is $49.

I've groused about Verizon, and especially Verizon wireless many times over the years. I still think all wireless companies are soulless bandits. But, I have to say, Verizon treated me OK on this deal.

And we love the phones!
