Yes, school is good.  School is important.  School prepares kids for the future.  By sitting quietly in neat rows of desks for long periods of time doing exactly what they are told in school, it prepares them to sit quietly in neat rows of cubicles for long periods of time doing exactly what they are told as an adult.  LOL

There has to be a special place in hell for this one, which really isn't so offensive, except for the tune ('Trumpet', wich really sounds mostly like clarinets)  and the acqua blue background. Like anyone, I like the sound of clarinets in moderation, but they are the onions of music. Acqua Blue, as a color, the same may be said. What else may be said is that both clarinets and acqua blue together, give me nightmares of quality & proportion to those I get when I suffer from bad indigestion in my sleep.

Back to school ads just tend to be dreadful in general.  Most kids are not so highly excited about going back to school.  They are pretty much bummed about it.

Yeah, but retailers like to portray them as being highly excited about it because it gets the parents excited about spending money on new clothes and whatever other junk they're selling.

Plus, in this day and age, everyone has to be portrayed in a positive light, no matter how unrealistic it may be.

If you don't learn that stuff, you might end up "in neat rows of cubicles for long periods of time doing exactly what you are told as an adult", anyway.

A lesson for you on your birthday, Tiki.
It is possible to disagree with someone without insulting them...sure it was a big day when we first learned to tie our shoes.
But when we get a little belly fat, like me and Jimbo, it just not comfortable to bend over that far.
I bet you have some belly fat? Of course people like Thor don't have that problem, but he works too hard!

^ How fat do you have to get to upgrade to just plain old loafers?
No Velcro, no laces.  Tongue

Sadly, I've been thinking about getting a pair of slip on shoes lately....

I can still bend over and tie my shoes, ron.

I'm just usually in too big of a hurry to mess with tying them, so I'd rather just zap a strap and be done with it.

Walmart's "What Lawyers Use" commercial is back! The one where the dad gives his two daughters briefcases for school. And that damn Fitz & The Tantrums "The Walker".
I'm constantly seeing the H&M dancing kids ad now. Sure, they can dance. But they won't be when they aren't following directions in class and are sent to the office.
Back after a long absence...still hating those commercials. Go away Limu Emu and Doug!

I got down to about 152 lbs, but decided I didn't like being that weight.  So, for the first time ever, I decided to gain a few pounds.  Now, I'm in the upper 150s.  But even when I weighed more, I was still pretty limber (and lazy).  So, whenever possible, rather than bend over or kneel to tie my shoes, I kick my foot up about 5 feet, brace it against a wall of a building or a railing or whatever, and tie my shoe that way.  For me, it's easier than crouching down.

This is one of the many back to school commercials I dislike. Why? That horrible music, and those snarky flashing emoticons. Especially that snarky smiley face one.
I approve this message.
