I should admit up front that I have only seen the first Hunger Games movie, but I've seen it three times, and I don't remember any cars. The Internet Movie Cars Database claims there is a 1968 International Harvester Travelall, then some military vehicles in the sequels, but no Chargers, Darts, Aries K, Lancers, or Omnis to be seen*.
So I am kind of having a hard time buying the whole Dodge-Hunger Games tie-in they've got going on. In the above ad it seems to be an excuse to do a close-up shot of some model's letherette clad buttocks - "This is almost kind of like Jennifer Lawrence's ass that you can see on the internet anyway. Get a Doge, please." The next one makes an attempt to identify with the miners in the movie by showing some trucks driving around in the woods. I suppose if they had trucks in the Hunger Games universe, those miners might drive them to work and back. We will never know, but Dodge seems fairly confident they might. I can't stand the Dodge Ram narrator guy's voice - he just sounds like he's half asleep and woke up from a nap to read his lines - at least put sone enthusiasm into your narration.

I touched on this "tie-in" in a Chevy thread. The dark side of sponsorship. I've seen all of the movies except the latest one at least once each, and I don't remember any Ram trucks or Challengers roaring about. In fact, the only thing I recall with wheels was being pulled by horses. IF there had been cars, AND they had been Dodges, sure... knock yourself out. But seeing as how there weren't any, the commercials make about as much sense as me pulling up my shirt, cherry-belly-ing myself and saying "Campbell's tomato soup, for that deep down colon itch".

"Ram salutes the heroes of the hunger games.."
So we have a product for rural male demos. Let's tie it in with this story for teenage girls. Riight. "SKOAL salutes the vampires of Twilight." |

I've seen all the movies except the current. There was NO CIVILIAN CARS WHATSOEVER! There's only trains, horsedrawn carriages, and military vehicles from the government. THERES NO NEED FOR THIS MOVIE TIE IN! Its FICTION for crying out loud!

Using a movie with a dystopian theme for new trucks? Puleeze! WTF? No wait come to think of it we're dealing with Chrysler / Fiat (Fiasco Motors) and their gas guzzeling fugly redneck lemmon trucks. But a better movie tie in for badvertising would have been American Snyper. For sh*ts and giggles ! Talk about compatible movie themes! For Fiat/Fiasco they should use the Rusty Trombone movie for their ugly little turds on wheels with their stellar reliability. I think the title of that film is "Trumbo, Trumble" One of those was the last name of Lucy and Ricky's nosy old crone butch neighbor on I Love Lucy.

It's funny, I fist saw this commercial on veterans day. "We salute the heroes of....the Hunger Games." Really? Fictional people.

When I first saw it I thought that the truck commercial had just cut off midway and a hunger games commercials started. More on this effect with little Cesars' new "repeat 3 times" bullsh*t.

I read all the books in the beginning and loved them... but this multi-movie products tie-in is getting out of hand, and I just want it to be over. I loved the books, but the movies are too much and dragged out within an inch of it's life for profit.

"Superheroes" might be a better word than "heroes". Superheroes are fictional (like Superman). Heroes are supposed to be real.

Err, what? "Heroes" has been a really commonly used term to refer to pretty much any protagonist of any book, movie, TV series, comic, play, etc for pretty much ever, whereas "superheroes" refers to a specific type of hero, either ones with outright superhuman powers, like Superman or Spiderman, or one with such advanced tech, equipment, and skills that they may as well have super powers, like Ironman or Batman. Nobody considers Katniss a superhero, same with Rocky Balboa, Raylan Givens, Mad Max, Schwarzenegger's character from Predator, etc. The Dodge commercial is lame, you're gonna "salute" and pay tribute to fictional characters and make it sound like you're doing something special? I mean sh*t, Superman has saved the world dozens of times, how come we aren't saluting him too then, if we're saluting people that don't really exist for things they did in their fictional world? Then for added measure, the fictional characters they're saluting don't seem to even HAVE Dodge vehicles in their world? I mean, Blade and Vin Diesel in the Fast & Furious movies at least drove a Dodge, maybe Dodge shoulda saluted them? So yeah, absolutely, the Ram commercial is very moronic, but still, "heroes" is the right word, not "superheroes". |

I believe they were at the dealers or other garage for the latest recall or breakdown.
