For anyone who didn't watch David Letterman a week ago Friday, you missed something pretty amusing.

He got into this 5 or 10 minute back & forth bit with Paul Shaffer & his producers about him wanting the band to play some Eagles music because he was excited about going to their upcoming concert at Madison Square Garden (ostensibly on a "date" with the wife of an audience member), but they couldn't play any because the Eagles (being the self-serious jerks that they are) would not allow it & if they did, the Eagles lawyers would sue them.

So of course, Letterman got ahold of it & wouldn't let go, like a dog on a mailman's leg & really milked the opportunity to make them look like petty, money-grubbing douchebags on national television. He ended the whole thing by saying "Ya know what? I'm just not that interested anymore."

Then, when they came back after the commercial break, he wasn't finished with them yet...

Though it's not on the video & I can't find it anywhere, they eventually played, with some gleeful relish, a musical piece that was an unmistakeable and freely admitted rip off of the intro to Life in the Fast Lane, but had just enough of the notes either changed or rearranged, so that nothing could be legally done about it. Apparently, someone else who was peeved at the Eagles for over their over protectiveness of their precious music, composed the piece & named it something like "Supercharger" or something like that.

Wish it was on the video too.

Great TV moment!!!

I remember watching a classic old game show, the $100,000 pyramid with Dick Clark.
One of the celebrity guest or a contestant had a birthday, they wanted to sing.
Even the old birthday song has trademark rights, what a bunch of BS.

^  I couldn't believe that, but I looked it up, and it's true!  Happy Birthday won't become public domain until 2030.

Now I wanna hear that Supercharger song.  Can't find it, though.
