That's because the grille is upside down.
Turn the damn things over and people might make the connection. And would a chrome sweepspear down the side be the end of the world? |

DaaaaaamnItNow!!!
Why didn't *I* see that coming?
Perfectly correct!
Thanks, Buddy - You just made my evening.
(The Missus once had a super-duper fully-blown-out and supercharged Century - she LOVED that gas hog! Actually, I dearly loved it, too). The best way to classify it was a 'Luxury Cop Car built for an ex-Cop' - she could run down anyone (if she still could, legally) in total comfort and they'd be more than happy to be seated in the back. The perfect 'party car to jail'. The interior was dark, almost burnt-red crused velour with a beautiful (f)wood dash and steering wheel, the stereo was to die for, the outside was black-on-black, black tinted windows.

Happy to be of service.
I bet you remember just like I do when there wasn't any doubt that it was a Buick coming down the lane like the 1972 Riviera. And they had better slogans too. In this silly commercial they say "the luxury you deserve" or something equally inane. For the Riviera it was "For the man who dares to be different". Heck, these days that could work on several levels. |

I have always had a very soft spot for Riveras. I still want one - and, well...I'm looking for another car about now...THANKS for the idea!
Now I'm 'altered'...the hunt for a Ford Ranchero or Chevy El Camino has taken a 'left turn'...

There's a Toronado like that one for sale in Tifton GA, but the condition isn't nearly that nice.
I still miss my 1970 Electra convertible that I had to sell right after my divorce. It was identical to this one, and it still hurts to think about it being gone! |

I had a "friction car" (1/24th scale toy) of that Toronado. I had a bunch of those as a kid. I think the Toronado was my last one. I was building car models for years by then. |

The Toronado lost it really quickly. It never got better than the 1966 and 67 models. |

OOps- sorry Pa - My dad had the Buick Riviera and then an Oldsmobile 98.
(The color was almost identical though)... I'll just go back to doing what I was doing now... don't mind me... |

Too late, Maddy - you made me feel all old & crap...tried to take an 'air bath bike ride' to blow away the dust, but I could barely ride a mile before looking for a walker.
Dammitnow!

Well, I ain no expert on Buicks, but, from The Get, the purpose of this campaign was obvious re morphing peoples' takes on the brand....and, I think it's all brilliantly done, esp the older lady exulting, 'Oh MY!" While finally sitting in one: so much clear affect in so few words.
