I have been SICK of this for years now.  For some reason nearly EVERY commercial HAS to be "funny" now.  But the jokes are all-too-often moronic and I despise them.  Why cannot commercials just be normal and informative?  This would at least make them just a little more bearable.  Hear me well commercial-creators!  DROP THE CORNY JOKES BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT FUNNY!!!!!!!!!!

I wish they were ONLY corny. One of my biggest pet peeves is comedy that combines that with dark or "edgy" stuff, as if the one thing cancelled out the other.

Those are also quite annoying!  I just HATE the corny "jokes" (I use the JOKES lightly) that they use now.  It usually involves awkwardness between two people and insults.  STALE.

I just realized that I posted this in the WRONG section!  It should have been elsewhere! Maybe Nathan will come to the rescue and move this where it belongs!  I guess college failed to make me smarter!

This is your brain on commercials.

I get sick and tired of the quirky commercials, the ones that have nothing to do with the product being advertised, and are extremely over-the-top so it can get you talking about the product. Here's an example:

It does nothing to make me want to buy the product. I have no problem with funny commercials, but show me something related to the product, not this random non-sequitur stuff.

Better yet, here's the one I'm looking for...

I'll give the Skittles commercials a pass, just because they're so damned off-the-wall.

Commercial Talk...which is where I see the thread's been moved to.  I guess it'd be equally appropriate in the List of Advertising Offenses section.

Not quite on topic, but....I Heart the M&M commercials.  I like all of them but the current where they have been taken hostage is my new favorite.  Great ad people and campaign.
A new study finds that people who are chipper & happy live longer. Which is surprising because people who aren't chipper & happy want to kill people who are always chipper & happy. David Letterman

That M&Ms commercial with guy eating the M&Ms relatives...........strikes me as mean and morbid! The other M&Ms ads don't bother me much, though. But I'm probably oversensitive.

a trend i've noticed is commercials with actors or settings that look like they came out of a 70's - early 80's porno. for example, that 2nd skittles commercial. others are the "manly" old spice and dairy queen commercials and the commercials for that breakfast on the go with the robots.
